CNB Guest Opinion: Parents Give Disney A Wake-Up Call

November 29, 2022 Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on Disney’s latest box office failure: The most common word used by reviewers of Disney’s new film, “Strange World,” was “bombs.” Disney expected to bring in $30 to $40 million over Thanksgiving weekend but netted only $18.6 million. That’s pretty bad considering it cost $180 million to make the flick. It is expected to cost Disney $100 million when the final numbers are posted. The Wrap called it “one of Disney’s biggest failures ever,” saying it was the “biggest animated bomb in 20 years.” What happened? Those who live inside the Hollywood bubble can’t figure it out. But parents can. “Strange World” was the first animated movie for children featuring a gay teen romance. That’s not what most parents want their kids to see: they don’t want to sexualize their children. Disney was founded as a family-friendly organization. In more recent... Read more →

Guest Opinion: The New York Times Lambaste Bernie McGuirk

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a New YorkTimes obituary on Bernie McGuirk: WABC legend Bernie McGuirk, who, along with Sid Rosenberg, commanded the number-one rated morning radio talk show in the New York area, “Bernie and Sid in the Morning,” died on October 5. On October 19, the New York Times ran an obituary on him by Ed Shanahan that read more like a tract than an honest summary of his professional life. [Full disclosure: I knew and liked Bernie for many years.] McGuirk made a name for himself by working with Imus, the iconic radio talk-show host, for two decades; he was one of his sidekicks. Here is how the Times began its obit on him. “The two men were fired because of a racist exchange about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, marring, but not ending, their shared radio success. WABC Radio Host Bernie McGuirk, Age 64, Died of Prostate Cancer

Bernie was a class act... ~Bill Donohue Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the death of Bernie McGuirk: The death of WABC radio host Bernie McGuirk comes as a shock, notwithstanding the fact his health condition was known to be perilous. The show that he co-hosted with Sid Rosenberg—“Bernie and Sid in the Morning”—brought joy to the lives of their fans for many years. He died of prostate cancer at the age of 64 on October 5. Of all the TV and radio shows I have done, none has been more fun than my time spent with Bernie and Sid. They are two of the greatest guys in the business. GUEST OPINION: Newsom's Latest Sanctuary State Scam

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s latest sanctuary state scam: Illegal aliens who crash our borders can find sanctuary in California. Women who want to abort their child, but live in states with restrictive abortion laws, can come to California to have a doctor kill their baby. Now young boys and girls who are sexually confused, and who live in states where puberty blockers and chemical castration are considered child abuse, can go to California where they will be “treated.” The contempt that California Gov. Gavin Newsom has for America’s sovereignty is on a par with his contempt for state’s rights and parental rights. All this from a man who helped kill his own mother in 2002, at a time when assisted suicide was a felony in California! On September 29, Newsom signed a bill, sponsored by a homosexual activist and state senator, Scott Wiener,... Read more →

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: HALLOWEEN “HAUNTED HOUSE” IS OFFENSIVE

The Bridge Eco Village, located inside a former Catholic school in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a development company that services disadvantaged people. Together with Rotten Concepts, a design company that specializes in haunted fare, the two entities are currently holding an event that attracted the attention of the Catholic League. Here is Bill Donohue’s response. September 29, 2022 Gary Gilliam The Bridge Eco Village [email protected] Dennis Miller Rotten Concepts [email protected] Dear Sirs: The idea of using a former Catholic school as the site for a Halloween “haunted house”—what is happening at the former Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg—seems bizarre, to say the least. But it is more than strange for “The Unholy Schoolhouse” to feature “demonic nuns and damned teachers,” instructing visitors that they will be “risking not only your life but your faith and your very souls.” And according to Dennis Miller, “It’s going to be creepy nuns, creepy... CNB Guest Opinion: Biden Hires Known Enemy Of Catholicism

Bill Donohue | CNBNewsnet Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on President Biden’s appointment of John Podesta: Never before in American history has there been a president of the United States who has worked harder to oppose Catholic teachings on marriage, the family, abortion, school choice, conscience rights, and the wellbeing of children (e.g., transgenderism) than President Joe Biden. Now he has added to his legacy by appointing a man to a senior position in his administration who is a confessed enemy of the Catholic Church, John Podesta. CNBNews graphic files On the Friday afternoon before Labor Day weekend, Biden appointed Podesta to oversee his climate policies. Podesta started in the job on September 6. Guest Opinion: Biden Privileges Gays Over Kids

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the way the Biden administration is treating different demographic groups: On August 4, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra declared monkeypox a national public health emergency. This decision was not based on medical conditions; rather, it was purely political. On August 10, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported there were 9,492 cases of monkeypox in the United States. On August 6, a news story on CDC data reported that "fewer than 1 in 10 (8%) needed hospitalization due to monkeypox." That means there were 759 hospitalizations. A study published July 21 by the New England Journal of Medicine found that 98 percent of those infected with monkeypox were homosexual or bisexual men and that 75 percent where white. Now contrast these numbers with what we know about respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), an infection that primarily affects young children during the fall... Read more →

GUEST OPINION: Increase in Anti-Catholic Incidents

BILL DONAHUE I The Catholic League The recent flurry of anti-Catholic incidents at home and abroad is a disturbing reminder of how deeply entrenched this genre of bigotry is. The incidents are not in any way a coordinated attack, though some commonalities are evident, the most obvious being that they are all driven by left-wing players. It was reported in Canada last week that there has been a huge increase in anti-Catholic hate crimes: between 2020 and 2021, they shot up by 260 percent. Churches have been burned to the ground, stained-glass windows have been smashed and acts of desecration have taken place. Some of this is a reaction to news reports alleging the discovery of "mass graves" of Indigenous children on Catholic grounds. Those stories have been proven to be totally false—not a single corpse has been found in these "mass graves." But the damage that these lies have... Read more →

Guest Opinion: TBS is Pushing Samantha Bee to the Curb

Bill Donohue | CNBNews Contributor TBS is pushing Samantha Bee to the curb, which is not a strange place for someone who has spent her entire professional life in the gutter. After seven seasons, “Full Frontal” will not return in the fall. Bee is one of the most filthy-mouthed entertainers in American history. She is also a relentless anti-Catholic bigot. In 2018, she showed how low she can go when she called Ivanka Trump the “c-word.” After being blasted by critics, which did not include the National Organization for Women or the Feminist Majority, she issued an apology. “I crossed the line and I do apologize for that.” She added that “A lot of women do not want to reclaim that word. They want it gone and I don’t blame them.” A few nights later, she said that while she will refrain from using the “c-word,” she admitted that it... Read more →

Guest Opinion: In Denial Over Gay-Driven Monkeypox

By Catholic League president Bill Donohue CNBNews graphic files "Monkeypox can be exceptionally painful," says Patrick Ashley, senior deputy director at the D.C. Department of Health, "especially if there are lesions on the penis, a lot of penal swelling, on the anus as well, it can be significantly painful." Now we all know who is the most likely to have these kinds of problems. They used to be called homosexuals, then they were called gay. Now they are often known as men having sex with men (as if this is not what defines homosexual behavior). The D.C. Department of Health confirms our suspicion. So who is listed on its website as the most likely to get monkeypox? Dr. James Dobson: Biden executive order on abortion shows 'obsession with continuing to destroy innocent children in the womb'

Statement: JDA Worldwide for Dr. James Dobson July 8, 2022 “This morning, President Biden signed an executive order promoting abortion. Every provision in the order seeks to ensure that as many abortions as possible occur in America, even after the overturn of Roe v. Wade. "While he positions this as an effort toward 'protecting the reproductive rights of women,' this is nothing less than an attempt to proliferate murder of our most vulnerable children. "The executive order promotes 'emergency contraception,' which is the so-called 'morning after pill,' as well as 'medication abortions,' which present great risk to women. "Another provision promises added security for abortion clinics, but does nothing to protect crisis pregnancy centers currently being attacked across America by pro-abortion extremists. "It is both tragic and infuriating to see at the highest level of our government such an obsession with continuing to destroy innocent children in the womb. The... Read more →

Media Fails The Public Once Again

Bill Donohue | CNBNews Contributor The Supreme Court ends its 2021-2022 term today. It also ends a particularly embarrassing time for the media. In a statement, the Nativity School said the flags fly at the school to remind students, their families, and staff that all are welcome and valued, and safe. Reverend Robert J. McManus, S.T.D., Bishop of Worcester Diocese, removed the Catholic status of The Nativity School last month for flying LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter Flags at the entrance of the school. News Of Catholic Massacre In Nigeria Is Tainted

June 6, 2022 Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on media coverage of the Catholic massacre in Nigeria: Father Andrew Abayomi was finishing his celebration of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state (Nigeria) on Pentecost Sunday when terrorists shot the congregation and threw explosives at the church building, killing dozens of people. This was only the latest in a series of killings carried out by radical Islamists against Christians in Nigeria, though the media are reluctant to discuss the identity of the terrorists. No one was better at describing what happened than Nina Shea, whose expertise is monitoring religious liberty worldwide at the Hudson Institute. "The massacre in a church while filled with Sunday worshippers is an atrocity that we've repeatedly seen in northern Nigeria over the years. Those were the work of Islamist extremists." Mostly Muslims live in the north of Nigeria; the south... Read more →

Guest Opinion: Pelosi has been Begging for a Fight with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the rift between Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her bishop: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has been told by her bishop, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, not to present herself for Holy Communion, has been begging for a confrontation with him for many years. Now she has succeeded. Less than two years after Cordileone was installed as the new archbishop in 2012, Pelosi, who was House Minority Leader at the time, "took the lead," according to the San Francisco Chronicle, "in a high-profile lobbying effort to pressure San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone not to attend the controversial March for Marriage event...." The March for Marriage was held to promote the idea of marriage, properly understood: in other words, as the exclusive union between a man and a woman. This bothered Pelosi immensely, which is why she went public with her dissenting position. She has... Read more →

New Jersey Catholic Bishops Outraged with Gov. Murphy’s Proposal to Expand Abortions in NJ

Catholic Church in New Jersey Stands Ready to Help Moms and Mothers-to-Be in Need A joint statement from the New Jersey Catholic bishops on Governor Murphy’s proposal that all health insurers in New Jersey provide coverage for abortion services: The Catholic Bishops of New Jersey join to express our disappointment and outrage over Governor Murphy’s announcement regarding proposed legislation to expand access to abortion in New Jersey, an act that by its very nature terminates human life. If enacted, this legislation would mandate health insurance coverage for abortions, codify regulations that permit non-physicians to perform abortions; and create a public fund that dedicates taxpayer money to pay for abortions. Ironically, New Jersey already has some of the most permissive abortion laws in the United States and continues to provide abortion providers tens of millions of dollars in public funds to perform these services. New Jersey continues to rank among the... Read more →

Rev. Samuel Rodriguez: People of God Must Step Up..

...proving they are comprehensively pro-life from the womb to the tomb. Press Release: The KAIROS Company for NHCLC SACRAMENTO — Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, released the following statement calling for comprehensive pro-life activism: “This long, dark night may soon end. The unconscionable injustice of extreme abortion policies — aligning the U.S. with countries like North Korea and China — may soon be over. Praise God. We must now put the same energy into demonstrating mercy and compassion as we have our activism. If what we have heard is true, people of God must step up, proving they are comprehensively pro-life from the womb to the tomb, with actions that dignify, care for and protect the lives of mothers, children and families. We must be the hands and feet.” --- Rev. Samuel Rodriguez is president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, executive producer... Read more →

Guest Opinion: A NEW SURVEY ON ABORTION

Bill Donahue | CNBNews Contributor Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a new survey on abortion: Radio, TV, the internet, and newspapers are alive with stories saying that a majority of Americans do not want Roe v. Wade overturned. Those reports are totally misleading. While the actual text of the decision does not allow for all abortions, in practice it does: to perform a late-term abortion all the doctor has to do is invoke a "mental health" exception, and bingo—he can legally abort the baby. Guest Opinion Importantly, the American people have never been in favor of abortion on demand, yet this is what Roe allows. Surveys almost never ask respondents if they would support this ruling if they knew that it would allow for abortions at any time during pregnancy, and for any reason whatsoever. The latest survey on this subject, published by the Pew Research Center, is... Read more →

GUEST COMMENTARY: Schumer's Abortion Bill Guts Religious Liberty

Bill Donohue | CNBNews Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on Sen. Chuck Schumer's abortion bill: On May 11, Sen. Chuck Schumer will introduce the Women's Health Protection Act, the most radical pro-abortion bill ever written. It would effectively guarantee abortion-on-demand. It would also gut First Amendment protections for religious liberty by exempting the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). GUEST OPINION Schumer epitomizes the Democratic Party on abortion and religious liberty. Not too long ago, the Democratic Party was cautiously pro-abortion. Two days after becoming president in 1993, Bill Clinton said, "Our vision should be of an America where abortion is safe and legal but rare." When Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2008, she repeated this line, adding, "By rare, I mean rare." Rare no more. There is not an abortion today that most Democrats wouldn't support. Worse, they went from being pro-religious liberty to anti-religious liberty. On March... Read more →

Letters to the Editor: The Left Is Deranged Over Roe v Wade Being Overturned

Statement: The KAIROS Company for Dr. James Dobson May 10, 2022 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR "Recently, the Left has become increasingly deranged over the potential of Roe v. Wade being overturned. From riotous mobs outside the homes of Supreme Court justices to pro-abortion activists defacing churches across the country in violation of federal law, to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) attempting to push through legislation codifying abortion on demand, the Left is showing their true colors. And they are as hideous as it gets."For the first time in three generations, the Court is poised to restore the right of self-government and return the grave issue of abortion to the people. Now, more than ever before, God-fearing and life-loving Americans must let their voices be heard. "First, we must demand that our President and all legislative leaders expressly condemn the outrageous and lawless attempts by mobs to coerce and threaten... Read more →

13-Year-Old Logan Calls Radio Station About His Calf

CNBNews Note: This was sent to us by a friend. It is a short story first posted in 2007 about a boy name Logan, who lives on a ranch in Nebraska. Logan listens to Christian Radio station 89.3FM KSBJ which broadcasts from Houston, TX. The 13-year-old called the radio station distraught because he had to take down a calf . His words have wisdom beyond his years. What struck us was how mature he sounded for being so young. Also how different this youngster's life must be compared to the majority of 13 year olds who live in the state of New Jersey. It is just a few minutes long. Let us know your thoughts. (A FrankLozano.com Production) KSBJ is a local Houston Christian music radio station. Video clip produced by www.FrankLozano.com Hear the entire message at www.ValenciaHills.com Read more →

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY: What the Hell is Going On?

Dorothy Philbin | CNBNewsnet GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (April 24, 2022)--Que diable se passe-t'il-ici? the French ask about America. I ask myself that question almost every day. What the hell is going on? This week we can ask that question about the Dioceses of Camden. The old news is that the dioceses declared bankruptcy in October, 2020. That case is still in the courts. This week's news is that the dioceses wants to put $87.5 million into a trust fund for the survivors of sexual abuse. This has to be approved by the bankruptcy court which is, as all bankruptcies, in a federal court. That is a lot of money but the judge could say more or less money should be allocated. He has the final say. This $87.5 million is the second highest proposed settlement by a dioceses. It surpasses the settlement of the Dioceses of Boston at $85 million.... Read more →
