Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the way the Biden administration is treating different demographic groups: On August 4, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra declared monkeypox a national public health emergency. This decision was not based on medical conditions; rather, it was purely political. On August 10, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported there were 9,492 cases of monkeypox in the United States. On August 6, a news story on CDC data reported that "fewer than 1 in 10 (8%) needed hospitalization due to monkeypox." That means there were 759 hospitalizations. A study published July 21 by the New England Journal of Medicine found that 98 percent of those infected with monkeypox were homosexual or bisexual men and that 75 percent where white. He had ministered there as an educator, administrator, and friend to all, exemplifying the love of God and each other, since 2016. Camden Catholic High School president, Mary Whipkey, issued a statement to students, faculty, and friends in which she expressed sorrow at the priest’s passing. “We were blessed with his leadership, companionship, and guidance in all matters of school administration and Catholic identity. Born in Plymouth Township, Pa., he studied at Blessed John XXIII in Weston, Mass., before being ordained a priest of the Diocese of Camden by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio on June 2, 2001, in Blackwood. His first assignment was as parochial vicar of Saint Thomas More Parish, Cherry Hill, where he served for a year before being assigned the same role in Saint Vincent Pallotti, Haddon Township (2002-2005).
