Burke Scores 4 as #20 Rowan Women's Lacrosse Wins at Catholic, 11-8

WASHINGTON, DC -Calista Burke scored four goals, including two in the final quarter, as #20 Rowan defeated Catholic, 11-8, in the Profs' first game as a ranked team in the IWLCA Top 25 to improve to 12-1 on the season. Fiona Lockhart scored three goals and Molly Green added two, with Alexis Lowry and Elaina Corson each adding a goal and an assist each adding a goal and an assist. Somerdale Road Bridge reconstruction to break ground

(Lindenwold, NJ) – Next month, a $3.7 million project to reconstruct the Somerdale Road Bridge in Gloucester Township is set to begin. The project, which is being funded through state and county funds, will include the complete replacement of the bridge along with drainage improvements and the repaving of each roadway approach. “This project is incredibly important to maintain safety on our roadways and to ensure the strength and longevity of our county’s infrastructure,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “We know this has been a project of concern for many residents, so we are thrilled to get to work and make this area safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.” The bridge is located approximately 1,300 feet northwest of Chews Landing Road and crosses the north branch of the Timber Creek in Gloucester Township. Happy New Year! Turnpike, Parkway tolls going up in January

Next year is shaping up to be an expensive one for Garden State drivers as the New Jersey Turnpike Authority officially joins a list of potential toll and fare hikes that will take effect in 2025. It was never a matter of "if" tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway would go up but rather "how much" as the authority has adopted an index approach to budgeting toll increases by a minimum of 3% each year. The process eliminates the need for public hearings. Tolls will increase on Jan. 1 by 16 cents on the NJ Turnpike and 8 cents at Parkway barrier plazas, and 3 cents on Parkway entrance and exit ramps. The revenue, according to the authority, will be used to fund its $2.7 billion budget. In the agenda for Tuesday's meeting, the authority said that toll revenue was down in 2024 for the ten... Rabid fox confirmed in Gloucester Township

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – The Camden County Health Department has been notified by the state Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that a fox found in Gloucester Township has tested positive for rabies. On November 8, a Gloucester Township resident and their family member were walking their dog when a fox approached and attacked the dog. While separating the animals, the family member was bitten by the fox. The Animal Control Officer for Gloucester Township picked up the fox and arranged for rabies testing at the state Public Health & Environmental Laboratories in Trenton (PHEL). On November 15, the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services was notified by PHEL that the animal was rabid. The ACO associated with Gloucester Township, the pet owner and the exposed individual were notified. Continued construction to close lane on Kings Highway

This week, a one-way detour will be in place on Kings Highway between Black Horse Pike and East Lake Drive in Haddon Heights from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Thursday, Nov. 14 to Friday, Nov. 15. The closure is due to the ongoing Kings Highway improvement project that broke ground in September. “This closure will be brief and is important to this major project,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Motorists should avoid the area during the closure and find alternate routes before traveling. The eagerly anticipated annual rabies clinic, organized by the GFWC Woman's Club of Runnemede in collaboration with Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, took place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Harry E. Williams Recreation Center on 2 Broadway, Runnemede, NJ. Jim passed away at home in Runnemede, NJ surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2024. He was 61 years old. Beloved son of the late Harry and Ruth Binder. Texas Man Allegedly Kills His Wife in Runnemede

Runnemede, N.J.- A Texas man has been arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of a woman on Wednesday, November 2, 2023, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Runnemede Police Chief William Sampolski. Steven Burgess, 38, of Spring, TX, was charged with first-degree Murder in the death of his wife 30-year-old Ivy Morris. On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at approximately 1:48 a.m., officers from the Runnemede Police Department responded to the Days Inn Hotel for a report of a carjacking and a shooting. Officers spoke with the male victim of the carjacking, who informed them that a man fired a handgun at him and had stolen his vehicle. Officers then searched the hotel and located a female victim, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The female victim was identified as Ivy Morris, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dwelling Fire in Glendora, Two People Displaced

GLENDORA, NJ (SEPTEMBER 30, 2023)(CNBNews)--On Friday, September 29, 2023, at approximately 9:45 pm, the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the 400 block of Main Street located in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township for a report of a dwelling fire. Arriving officers found smoke and flames coming from the residence. The fire was called in by a neighbor walking their dog. Gloucester Township Fire Departments from Glendora, Chews Landing, Blackwood, along with Bellmawr, Runnemede, Somerdale and Magnolia Fire Departments arrived and gained control of the fire. Inspira BLS and Rehab 2 also assisted. The multi - family home was occupied by one resident at the time of the fire. A total of two people were displaced due to the fire and smoke damage. The borough has also been citing people who leave their trash cans on the curb after trash has been picked up. We long have been advocates for citing homeowners/landlords who have unlicensed, unregistered vehicles stored on their properties. They are unsightly and are safety hazards. They are also detrimental to the neighborhood where they are located and depreciate the value of properties in those neighborhoods.
