By Slim Randles | CNBNews Contributor We all watched as the flag came by. It was the first thing in the parade, of course. Great big one, carried by two of the kids from the ROTC at the high school. The bands followed, along with the mounted patrol, the ski patrol in their summer-weight jackets, the float with the princesses on it, and the local kids leading dogs and cats – some rather reluctantly – on leashes. For some of us, the Fourth of July parade is a chance to see just how much the local kids have grown over the past year. For others, it’s a chance to see something that is really ours. This is our parade. These are our people. These are the people who make our little valley unique in the whole world. This is a chance for us all to get together and celebrate us,...

“Monday's vote to approve the new FY26 budget is a win for New Jersey residents. We’ve passed a fiscally responsible budget that delivers record property tax relief - more than 49% of the budget is dedicated to easing property tax burdens. This budget reflects our priority of making New Jersey more affordable for families, seniors, and young people just starting out. There are no broad-based tax increases on working families, and we’ve also worked to ensure residents will not pay higher utility costs this summer. We’ve made smart investments to better communities across our state. We’ve also invested in housing, healthcare, and education, as well as making a full pension payment again this year. “We need to do all we can to help working families in New Jersey, which is why I don’t want to see hard-working men and women who dedicate their lives to serving us pay more for...

Picture Credit The Philadelphia Eagles soared through the 2024 regular season, finishing 14–3 with one of the league’s stingiest defenses and a ground game few could match. After a convincing playoff run that culminated in a Super Bowl win, the natural question heading into 2025 is whether they can do it again. Winning back-to-back championships in the NFL is rare; only eight franchises have done it. For the Eagles to join that elite company, they'll need to do almost everything right. This isn’t the same team that lifted the Lombardi last February. A defense-first identity remains, but some weaknesses have been exposed, especially through the air. The offseason brought a mix of stability and change. What unfolds this fall will depend largely on how effectively the Eagles can evolve to meet new challenges, without losing what made them elite last season. Defensive Identity Remains Intact The 2024 Eagles defense was...

Florida’s complex DUI laws present a challenging decision for drivers faced with blood test requests during traffic stops. While the right to refuse exists, it carries automatic penalties under implied consent laws and can create additional legal complications. Understanding these consequences, along with the various exemptions and defense strategies available, becomes imperative for anyone maneuvering this situation. The intersection of constitutional rights and public safety concerns shapes how courts view blood test refusals in DUI cases. Understanding Florida’s Implied Consent Law When a person obtains a Florida driver’s license, they automatically consent to chemical testing of their blood, breath, or urine if lawfully arrested for driving under the influence. This agreement falls under Florida’s Implied Consent Law, which serves as an integral tool for law enforcement in DUI investigations. The law works in conjunction with understanding Florida’s drug recognition program and understanding field sobriety testing procedures. Officers must follow strict...

“CNN’s promotion of an ‘ICE spotting’ app is reckless and irresponsible,” said ICE acting Director Todd M. Lyons. “Advertising an app that basically paints a target on federal law enforcement officers’ backs is sickening. My officers and agents are already facing a 500% increase in assaults, and going on live television to announce an app that lets anyone zero in on their locations is like inviting violence against them with a national megaphone. CNN is willfully endangering the lives of officers who put their lives on the line every day and enabling dangerous criminal aliens to evade U.S. law. Is this simply reckless 'journalism' or overt activism?"

William E. Cleary Sr. | CNBNews . PEYTON CLEARY It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of our cherished Peyton’s passing on Sunday, June 29, 2025. The whole experience unfolded so swiftly, yet I feel grateful for every moment we had together. That morning, I woke her at 7 AM, and she joyfully bounded out of the bedroom, a ball of enthusiasm as she leaped and twirled in the air. Our walk that day was uneventful and full of the usual fun. When we returned home, I fed her, and she settled down for a well-deserved nap. However, a few hours later, when she woke up, things took an unexpected turn. She attempted to stand but fell, hitting her head on the heater vent. We rushed her to the emergency vet in Mt. Laurel as quickly as possible. It was during this tense moment that I...

This week, President Trump sent a strong message: Iran poses a threat not only to Israel in the Middle East, but also to the United States as it pursues nuclear weapons. Last week, President Trump acted decisively and effectively, deploying B-2 bombers with surgical precision to protect Israel—but more importantly, to protect America. When the Ayatollah chants “Death to America,” he means it—and the reason he is building nuclear weapons is because he intends to use them. President Trump has consistently and unequivocally stated that such threats cannot be countered without dismantling the Iranian regime’s enrichment capacity. The President and his negotiators spent two months exploring whether the regime would agree to a negotiated settlement that met America’s national security needs. At the end of that period, Iranian regime officials declared that, instead of agreeing to a deal, they would open a new enrichment facility and install more advanced centrifuges....

According to a 2025 National Association of Realtors Deed and Fraud Survey, 63% of Realtor association leaders have seen or heard of deed or title fraud in their local markets over the past year. The survey indicates that deed and title fraud is particularly prevalent in the Northeast, where 92% of association leaders reported exposure to the issue. Fifty-two percent of cases involved residential land, fewer than 20% involved detached single-family homes, and 12% of fraud attempts involved owner-occupied homes. “Title and deed fraud is often a silent crime, but the damage can be very real,” said Bill Lublin, president of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and CEO of...

WASHINGTON — A tip from the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Crimes Center led to the May 29 arrest of Rafael Romeiro Rodriguez, a dangerous child sex offender, as he was attempting to travel internationally. DHS C3, which is led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, works to prevent child sex tourism and other crimes of child exploitation by notifying destination countries of convicted child predators who intend to travel abroad, and by supporting domestic enforcement actions like the one that led to Rodriguez's arrest. Rodriguez, a Colombian national who is in the United States illegally, was convicted in 2014 of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old. “Thanks to the targeted intelligence work of the Cyber Crimes Center, a convicted child sex offender will no longer pose a threat to the community,” said Deputy Assistant Director for the DHS Cyber Crimes Center...

While there are some returning favorites — looking at you, my 200-foot-long, blue dragon friend — this year’s festival features a ton of breathtaking, new displays. Set among the lanterns, you’ll also find energetic live cultural performances, globally inspired dining, family-friendly activities, shopping and more. After being absolutely wowed by last year’s fest, I had to see whether the experience...

WASHINGTON D.C. – Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released the following statement after the Senate Republican majority blocked consideration of Senator Kaine’s War Power Resolution which would assert Congress’ constitutional authority on using military force: “Despite the strikes, Iran still appears to maintain significant uranium stockpiles, and continues to pose a threat. Does President Trump order strikes again if Iran digs out the nuclear sites and tries to enrich uranium stockpiles? Does he try to strike if Iran seeks to rebuild the sites or build new nuclear facilities? The American people deserve to know under what conditions Trump would consider additional strikes and to have a say in whether our country goes to war. By rejecting this resolution, my colleagues are abdicating our responsibility to give voice to Americans, including the military families who will inevitably be put in harm’s way.” This week, Senator Kim and Senators Adam Schiff (D-CA), and...

Delaware is currently under an extreme heat warning, and as summer is just beginning, this will likely not be the last such heat wave. By Slim Randles | CNBNews Contributor Dud was down at The Lunker Hole on Lewis Creek before it even turned yellow in the east. He had some thinking to do, and, as everyone knows, there’s no better way to think than fly fishing. Just about the time Dud could make out The Lunker’s rock at the head of the hole, he had gotten a tiny midge tied on some leader and sent it on its way to the general vicinity of the rock. It floated slowly downstream without being bothered by piscatorial pirates, and when the line told him he’d reached as far downstream as he could on this cast, he picked it up, waved it dry and cast back up at the rock. Okay, now is a decent thinking time, so it was well to get started. It’s the book, of course. Why do I do it? He asked...

PRESS RELEASE The world is far safer after President Donald J. Trump’s highly successful, decisive precision strikes against the Iranian regime’s key nuclear facilities. The white structure shown is deeply imbedded into the rock, with even its roof well below ground level, and completely shielded from flame. The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!” Israel Atomic Energy Commission: “The devastating US strike on Fordo destroyed the site’s critical infrastructure and rendered the enrichment facility inoperable. We assess that the American strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, combined with Israeli strikes on other elements of Iran’s military nuclear program, has set back Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons by many years. The achievement can continue indefinitely if Iran does not...

Whether tucked inside an old brick building or accessed through a mobile screen in a flat in Addis Ababa, the concept of chance still holds its magnetic pull.
