I am raising funds for Liv Blymer. Liv is 19 years old and was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer when she was a Senior in High School in 2023. Soon after Graduation, Liv had her right ovary and fallopian tube removed. After months of recovery, Liv was able to start college and get a part time job at Target. She thought she was getting her life back. Then, in October of 2024, Liv was diagnosed with Liver cancer that unknowingly spread from her ovary. She will start chemotherapy on November 21st. Unfortunately, Liv has withdrawn from college and is no longer working once again putting her life on hold. Liv’s mom, Kellie has just lost her job that she just started in late August and is only getting very little unemployment. Bills are piling up and I am asking for any monetary help you can give. Please keep the Blymer family in your prayers and please share. PLEASE DONATE HERE!!! https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-liv-blymers-fight-against-cancer Thank you, Melanie

November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and Family Caregivers Month. To mark these moments, we’re encouraging people to lend a helping hand to the more than 700,000 family members and friends in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania who serve as unpaid Alzheimer’s caregivers. If you are caring for a loved one with dementia, you can turn to the resources and support services offered by the Alzheimer’s Association. Whether you are a caregiver or you know someone who is, one of the easiest ways to make a difference is through education. Learn about Alzheimer’s disease—its symptoms, its progression and the common challenges caregivers face. The more you know, the easier it will be to find and offer help. A partial list of education offerings for November is below. Other ways to make a difference: Check in with a phone call, send a note or stop by for a visit. These small gestures can make a big difference in a caregiver’s day, and help them feel supported. (Other ways to be supportive can be found here.) Offer help during the holidays. Assistance with cooking, cleaning or gift shopping— even offering to host celebrations—can be helpful. If you are a caregiver, reach...

(Camden, NJ) – After the State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) declared a statewide drought watch on Oct. 17, the Camden County Board of Commissioners and the Office of Sustainability are urging residents to conserve water. “The past few months have been abnormally warm and dry, creating the current drought conditions statewide,” said Commissioner Jon Young, liaison to the Office of Sustainability. “While we should always be aware about how much water we are using, it is especially important right now that all residents try their best to conserve water to ease the stress on our state’s water supply while this drought watch is in effect.” New Jersey has a three-stage drought advisory system where a drought watch is the first step. Under a drought watch, conservation is encouraged but if conditions don’t improve, the state could enact mandatory conservations efforts. NJ DEP has recommended taking the following steps to conserve water: The most up-to-date information about the status of New Jersey’s water supplies can be found at dep.nj.gov/drought/ For more water conservation tips, go to: dep.nj.gov/drought/current-conditions/

On Friday, county, local leaders, and law enforcement will meet with state DOT Commissioner, Francis O’Connor, to talk about safety along the White Horse Pike corridor through Collingswood. The group will get a firsthand look at the challenges for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists in this heavily traveled corridor where 24 accidents have occurred since 2019. Since then, almost 30% of those accidents involved a pedestrian or bicyclist. “As the prosecutor outlined last spring, the White Horse Pike has become a dangerous roadway for pedestrians and our accident levels are too high in this area,” Cappelli said. “Making sure we have everyone at the table working together on the challenges for residents – whether it’s crosswalks, sidewalks, lighting or enforcement – we can deliver safer options for our collective community.”

TRENTON – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and City of Newark are pleased by the latest developments in an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office that resulted in the arrests of two individuals who are charged with fraud by failing to fully replace lead service lines at sites that required remediation between 2019 and 2021. In January 2024, Newark and the NJDEP were advised of concerns that, in some cases, third parties hired to replace lead service lines in Newark may not have complied with all requirements for full line replacement (example: from the water meter inside a home to the water main in the street). In response, Newark and the NJDEP initiated an audit to identify affected properties and commence inspections to verify compliance with lead service line replacement requirements to ensure the continued safety of all residents. The audit, which began in January 2024, included both a targeted and a randomized data assessment resulting in over 700 excavations. The targeted audit included 403 service line excavations. Of these, 33 properties were found to contain some remaining lead components, which were replaced. Consistent with Newark’s post-replacement protocol, residents were provided point-of-use filters for lead and flushing...

Many people are looking into their internet options because they aren't happy with their current providers. New technologies give them more options, and they want to explore the offerings. What are the main differences between cable and fiber internet? Which should a person choose? Fiber Vs. Cable If you have fiber internet near you, it may be tempting to sign up, particularly if a provider offers a fantastic deal. Cable internet has been around for a while, and coaxial cables are used to deliver service to homes. Fiber internet relies on fiber optic cables to transmit data. These fiber optic cables allow for rapid transmission with no interference. The speed is incredibly fast, and upload and download speeds are the same. As a result, most people choose fiber when it is available to benefit from the speed and reliability. What is Fiber Internet? Fiber internet transmits data using thin strands of glass or plastic cables. Light beams transmit data along these cables to ensure fast speeds with minimal interference. Providers may offer a full fiber network or a hybrid one using optic and traditional copper coaxial cables. Hybrid networks remain more common today. The Benefits and Drawbacks of Fiber Internet...

Terrence T. McDonald | Editor-in-Chief They walked off the job just after midnight after last-minute negotiations failed to result in a deal between the shipping industry and the International Longshoremen’s Association. The union and port companies are sparring over wages and automation. While workers are on strike, cargo cannot be unloaded in ports on the East Coast and elsewhere, worrying experts who fear a repeat of COVID-related supply-chain issues. "Nothing's going to move without us! Nothing!" Harold Daggett, the ILA president, said before a cheering crowd of more than 500 union members gathered at the gates of Maher Terminals in Elizabeth, one of the main container terminal operators at Port Newark–Elizabeth Marine Terminal. "We're going to win this thing, trust me. They can't survive too long, and we're going to get what we deserve. We're going to show these greedy bastards you can't survive without us." Buckle up. by Andrew Burnett Senior Wildlife Biologist To the deer hunter, the arrival of autumn means hunting season has arrived. (In fact, in some zones the bow season actually opens before the autumnal equinox!) New Jersey’s largest game species with an open season is the white-tailed deer, and it is targeted by more hunters than any other species. Knowing the deer’s natural ways can increase the enjoyment of the sport and the chances of success. During the anterless permit seasons hunters may harvest fawns as well as mature bucks and does. (See the Hunting & Trapping Digest for specific regulations on each season and zone.) Fawns weigh approximately 7½ pounds at birth while adults average 100 pounds (females) to 150 pounds (males). Actual weights vary depending on habitat-type and quality, age of the animal and season of the year. The maximum life expectancy of a deer could exceed twenty years. (A fawn ear-tagged in the southern New Jersey Pinelands was recovered 18½ years later during the 1986 permit muzzleloader season. This may be the oldest tagged or verifiable aged specimen from the wild). However, the average age of male deer in New Jersey is less than two years, due to the...

William E. Cleary Sr. | CNBNews In a 2023 CNBNews photo, South Broadway approaching Brooklawn from Gloucester City is shown flooded recently due to a heavy rain storm. Are we asking the County Commissioners for too much by requesting a few more million to repave South Broadway in Gloucester City and New Broadway in Brooklawn? In 2012, the Freeholder Board (now known as Commissioners) promised to fix that road, also known as Camden County Route 551. Twelve years later, the public is still dealing with potholes and an impassable road that floods whenever there is a high tide or heavy rainfall. The five million dollars used to fix the bridge that connects those two communities in 2012 had no effect on the flooding of that stretch of highway. Recently, those commissioners announced that $11 million would be spent to fix Kings Highway, which is currently referred to by some as a cattle path, in the communities of Mt. Ephraim, Audubon, and Haddon Heights. We feel before fixing that problem the Commissioners should take care of this 2012 promise first. The Democratic Party owns the State of New Jersey. The Biden-Harris administration has doled out billions to fix a broken infrastructure...

In a previous CNBNews editorial, we strongly condemned the Mayor and Council for their failure to hire a full-time City Administrator, a crucial position in any administration. We vehemently criticized the governing body for paying the current part-time City Administrator and part-time Police Chief, Brian Morrell, an excessively high salary of over $225,000. After our editorial was published Morrell lashed out at us in a telephone conversation. His tirade was filled with innuendos, screaming, personal attacks, and foul language. At the time, we wondered whether he was in immediate need of anger management. To be fair, Chief Brian Morrell's treatment of us paralleled the behavior of former Police Chief George Berglund before he retired. We published an article about a member of Berglund's family that first appeared in the Gloucester County Times, which triggered an irate response from him. He sent a letter of admonishment to the CNBNews Editor for printing the story and subsequently censored CNBNews, the city's primary news source, from accessing future crime reports. His email stated that he would cease to cooperate with our editor on any police department-related matters. The Press represents the public. By Berglund censoring Cleary over a personal issue, he essentially punished...
