Statement from Asw. Reynolds-Jackson on the Tragedy in Minnesota

Unnamed (15)

(TRENTON, NJ) – Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-Hunterdon, Mercer) issued the following statement on the assassination of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and the attempted assassination of Senator John Hoffman.

"As a State elected official, this hurts me deeply. I am heartbroken by the loss of former Speaker Melissa Hortman, a woman who led with grace, and her husband. I’m praying hard for Senator John Hoffman and his wife. We didn’t sign up for public service to fear for our lives—none of us did. I signed up to serve, to stand up, and to speak out. Violence should never be the price of leadership. My heart is with Minnesota.

With love, and with sorrow, Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, Assemblywoman, 15th Legislative District"
