Police Seek Suspect After Officer Assaulted During Protest

Phila policeOn Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a police officer assigned to the 2nd District was assaulted while performing crowd control duties during a protest.

The officer, who was in full bicycle uniform, was using a department-issued bicycle to maintain a perimeter while an unrelated arrest was taking place. During the incident, a male from the crowd, estimated to be between 100 and 150 individuals, threw an orange traffic cone, striking the officer in the head.

Fortunately, the officer was wearing a bicycle helmet and did not sustain any injuries. Another officer on the scene observed the assault and was able to take a male into custody without incident. That individual was transported to the Police Detention Unit but has since been released without charges.

Investigators have determined that the male taken into custody was not responsible for the assault. We are now actively seeking assistance in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photo, who is believed to be the person responsible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093 or call 911.
