Phila policeThe Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating several overnight shooting incidents. All details are preliminary and subject to change as updates become available.
On June 23, 2025, at approximately 2:09 a.m., officers from the 16th District responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 1100 block of North 41st Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the right leg. The victim was found outside on the highway and was transported by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. At this time, no arrests have been made and no motive has been determined. The investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group (SIG).
On June 22, 2025, at approximately 11:47 p.m., 15th District officers responded to a report of multiple gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered approximately three dozen fired cartridge casings. Shortly afterward, the district was notified that two male victims had arrived at Jefferson Frankford Hospital via a private vehicle, which left before police arrived. Victim #1, a 21-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to his left side, while Victim #2, an 18-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to the right wrist. Both were listed in stable condition. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing with SIG.
At approximately 10:54 p.m., 39th District officers responded to a call for a person with a gun on the 100 block of West Hansberry Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported by police to Temple University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:12 a.m. The Homicide Unit is actively investigating. No arrests have been made at this time.
Earlier that day, at approximately 7:36 p.m., 25th District officers responded to a call for gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered 23-year-old Nelson Celda, of the 3400 block of North 3rd Street, lying unresponsive on the highway with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics pronounced the victim deceased at 7:49 p.m. The suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in a stolen 2021 white Honda Accord with tinted windows. No arrests have been made and the motive remains unknown. The Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
