**JEER:** Does anyone else find it a bit puzzling that the Gloucester City street sweeper seems to be cleaning our streets without using any water? The next time it rolls through your neighborhood, take a moment to notice the dust it stirs up! A well-functioning street sweeper typically uses water to keep the dust down and enhance its efficiency, so it’s worth asking—why isn’t this happening with ours? It’s important to note that our community has invested nearly $500,000 in a new sweeper, and we all want to see our city streets kept clean and healthy!
**CHEER** - Over 1,000 people gathered for the Gaudreau Family 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Day in Sewell, NJ! This wonderful event pays tribute to the memories of John and Matthew Gaudreau, who were sadly taken from us by an alleged drunk driver while cycling in Salem County last summer. Jason Richwall from Medford was the winner of the competitive segment of the Gaudreau 5K, finishing the 3.1-mile race in just over 16 minutes—what an impressive achievement!
**JEER**-* Millions of dollars have been spent to stop flooding at the Brooklawn traffic circles. Yet, the problem persists. About 50 years ago, when Jim Florio was running for Congress, he promised that if elected, he would fix the issue. He made the same commitment in the 1990s when he ran for governor of the state. Each time, millions of dollars were spent on repairs that yielded no results. Florio was succeeded by other federal and state officials who echoed the same promise, and each time, the repairs fell short, resulting in more money spent with negative outcomes. The latest repairs have been ongoing for two to three years now. The New Jersey Department of Transportation believes they have the flooding issue under control this time. Let's hope they are right.
**CHEER** - Are you on the lookout for a new barbecue spot that will tantalize your taste buds? Look no further than Big Swerve, 201 Broadway Rear Parking Area in Westville, NJ! He is nestled behind a catering hall, and is open Thursday through Sunday. The menu consists of brisket, pork ribs, and. jerk chicken sliders. Among the fan favorites are the fried egg rolls filled with either brisket or jerk chicken, complemented with a sweet and spicy sauce that’s perfect for drizzling on cornbread. The Lil Dip Two combo for just $49 includes a delightful trio of proteins (choose from brisket, chicken, or ribs) along with three medium sides like candied yams, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and the popular “mean beans.” And remember, every sauce is made right from scratch!
**JEER**-An illegal alien recently made a threat to kill President Donald Trump. The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blames the Washington Democrats and members of the media for the latest assassination threat. She released the following statement: “Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars. This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric.
**CHEER** - A huge shoutout to the Lions Little League baseball team, who have proudly claimed the title of 2025 District 14 Interleague Major Division Champions! Congratulations to all the players and coaches for their dedication and a fantastic season! And let’s not forget the Gloucester City Little League’s remarkable 75th anniversary is this year (1951-2025)—what an incredible milestone!

**JEER**-Before the public session of each Gloucester City Council meeting, Mayor Baile states the following: "If you wish to share a complaint against a city employee, you should be aware of potential legal implications." While this warning may come from a place of caution, it has unintentionally created a more reserved atmosphere, making it harder for community members to voice their concerns. In all our years of covering council meetings, we have never encountered such a warning from any previous leadership, dating back to the 1960s. This situation is raising eyebrows within the community, as it appears that the current mayor and council members may be unintentionally restricting the valuable right to free speech.
Initially, there were unfounded accusations aimed at silencing local media, which challenges the essence of journalistic freedom. Now, it seems that the voices of our community members—those who voted to put these leaders in office—are also at risk of being silenced. This trend of intimidation is something we should all be mindful of, as it has implications for the health of our democracy. Together, let us encourage open dialogue and foster an environment where every voice can be heard and valued!
**CHEER**- The United States Army will celebrate its 250th anniversary on June 14 to mark the Army’s 250th birthday. The date also coincides with Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. The festivity will feature a parade along a portion of the National Mall, beginning at 23rd Street and ending at 15th Street.

** CHEER**- Joe Gorman, the former Guidance Director at Gloucester High, does an excellent job of keeping his Title Town blog updated with the latest scores for sports at both Gloucester High and Gloucester Catholic. Maintaining that site is not as easy as it may seem. As someone who understands the effort involved, I can confirm that it takes a significant amount of time and dedication to keep everything current.
