Andrew B. Johns Sworn In as Gloucester County Prosecutor

Prosecutor Johns 5x7 Crop (1)WOODBURY, NJ – Andrew B. Johns was officially sworn in yesterday afternoon as the new Gloucester County Prosecutor. The Honorable Benjamin C. Telsey, Assignment Judge Vicinage XV, administered the oath of office. Prosecutor Johns succeeds Acting Prosecutor Elizabeth Vogelsong-Parvin, who has led the office over the past year. 

“I am honored to serve my community as the next Gloucester County Prosecutor,” Johns stated. “I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated law enforcement professionals in the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and our partner agencies to address violent crime, protect children from online sexual exploitation, and raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of financial scams. I am eager to engage with the community and explore innovative methods to enhance public safety throughout Gloucester County.”

Prosecutor Johns also thanked outgoing Acting Prosecutor Vogelsong-Parvin and former Acting Prosecutor Christine Hoffman for their leadership of the office over the past five years.

Prosecutor Johns began his career in public service in 2006 as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. After five years in Cumberland County, Prosecutor Johns joined the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice and was assigned to the Gangs & Organized Crimes Bureau in Cherry Hill, NJ. Prosecutor Johns was later promoted to the roles of Deputy Bureau Chief and Bureau Chief of the Specialized Crimes Bureau, where he oversaw investigations and prosecutions in the Bias Crimes Unit, Atlantic City Violent Crimes Task Force, Environmental Crimes Unit, Labor Fraud Unit, and others. Prosecutor Johns also helped train dozens of new prosecutors as a faculty member of the NJ Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute and the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute. After eight years with the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, Prosecutor Johns joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden, NJ. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Prosecutor Johns handled cases involving the sexual exploitation of children, drug and firearm trafficking, and white-collar fraud. Prosecutor Johns also served as the Project Safe Childhood coordinator, where he led the office’s efforts to combat the sexual exploitation of children. 

Prosecutor Johns is a graduate of Rutgers School of Law in Newark, NJ. He also holds a B.A in Political Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Prosecutor Johns resides in Glassboro with his wife and children.
