Former Fort Hood Soldiers Sentenced To Federal Prison For Alien Smuggling

ALPINE, Texas — A former U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Hood was sentenced in a federal court in Pecos, Texas, to 33 months in prison for aiding and abetting the transportation of illegal aliens for financial gain. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigated the case with the assistance from the U.S. Border Patrol, and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Central Texas Field Office. “The sentencing of these individuals underscores the serious consequences of engaging in human smuggling,” said Special Agent in Charge Jason T. Philadelphia Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Two Fugitives

On Monday, June 2, 2025, at approximately 2:39 a.m., officers from the 9th District responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 200 block of South Camac Street. Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Derwin Matthews lying on the highway with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported by police to Jefferson Hospital, where he received was pronounced dead at 6:20pm. Following an investigation by the Homicide Unit, two individuals have been identified as suspects in connection with the homicide. The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the following fugitives: Tyrik Ransom (Left), 24 years old, with a last known address on the 7100 block of Buist Avenue. Lisa Kathleen Sivieri, 51

On June 16, 2025, the cherished daughter of Loretta and Angelo Sivieri and loving sister of Dr. Mark Sivieri died of a heart attack. Lisa graduated from Washington Township High School in 1993. She was senior class president, and participated in various sports, clubs, and out of school activities. Lisa played varsity soccer for four years. In 1993, she was voted the varsity soccer captain and then made the Group 4 Division All-star team, 2nd team All South Jersey and 3rd team All State. In other years, Lisa was on the swim team, track, and JV basketball. In 1991, as a freshman, Lisa placed 3rd in the Philadelphia half marathon. Four Inmates Charged with Escaping from ICE Custody

NEWARK, N.J. – Four individuals being detained at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility were each charged by separate complaint for escaping from ICE custody, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced. Franklin Norberto Bautista Reyes, 20, of Honduras, Joan Sebastian Castaneda Lozada, 18, of Colombia, Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon, 25, of Colombia, and Joel Enrrique Sandoval-Lopez, 22, of Honduras, were charged by four separate complaints with escape from the custody of an institution or officer. According to documents filed in this case, each defendant was detained at Delaney Hall, a privately owned detention center in Newark, New Jersey, pending immigration removal proceedings. Malak Faltawws, aka “Mark Andrews,” 47, of Rutherford, New Jersey, plead guilty on June 10, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Evelyn Padin in Newark federal court to two-counts of an Indictment charging wire fraud and money laundering. According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court: From March 2020 through November 2021, Faltawws fraudulently obtained approximately $617,991 of COVID-19 emergency relief funds, which included loans and cash advances meant for distressed small businesses under the EIDL and PPP programs, by submitting false and fraudulent applications, inflating his businesses’ revenue, payroll expenses, and number of employees.
