Rowan Advances to NCAA Women's Lacrosse 3rd Round with 20-5 Win over WestConn

Screenshot 2025-01-12 082725GLASSBORO, NJ – Junior Elaina Corson scored 10 goals to set a new single-game school record as #23 Rowan defeated WestConn, 20-5, in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Profs will now move on to the Round of 16 and face Wesleyan (CT) on Saturday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Colby (Waterville, ME). 
 
Rowan (16-3), which is making its first NCAA appearance since 2018, also set a program mark for most goals scored in an NCAA Championship game, and the fewest goals allowed. The Profs have also set the school mark for wins in a season. 

Corson broke the mark of nine goals which was accomplished twice by Profs' players, with the last time coming in 2013 (Becca Wood vs. Catholic).
 
Alexis Lowry scored three goals and Calista Burke and Molly Green had two each for the Profs. Trish Gillen posted a goal and three assists with Hannah Lombardo chipping in one.
 
WestConn scored the first two goals of the game, but Rowan rattled off seven consecutive, with four from Corson, to own a 7-2 lead in the first quarter.
 
The Profs upped the scoring streak to 11 as they tallied the first four goals of the second quarter to take a commanding 11-2 lead. Corson totaled two in the period as Rowan held a 12-3 halftime lead.
 
Rowan held a 16-5 lead at the end of the third quarter as Lowry and Corson had two each and Lombardo, Lowry and Corson finished out the scoring in the fourth. Corson connected on the record-setting goal in the seconds of the game.
 
Stevens will face the host team Colby in the other third-round game at 11:30 a.m.
