ELITE POLITICIANS DON'T CARE! Prescription Drug Prices Are To High For Some Seniors and Disable People

I wanted to share a personal update: I am an 83-year-old man fighting diffuse emphysema and lung fibrosis. Unfortunately, my conditions have worsened. I was using the Trelegy inhaler, but in January, the price for my co-pay skyrocketed from $147 for a three-month supply to $2,000.21 (unbelievable they added 21 cents to the total). That number breaks down to about $700 per month. As you know, for
decades, elite politicians in Washington, on both sides of the aisle, have promised to make medications more affordable for senior citizens and those living on fixed incomes, but they have consistently failed to keep those promises. Some will say the Affordable Care Act lived up to that promise, or that Biden's Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program was the savior. Clearly, neither one did anything for me when it came to lowering my recent costs.
My doctor has prescribed two more affordable medications for my conditions. However, these come with costs: INCRUSE ELLIPTA is $287, and Fluticasone Propionate and Salmeterol Inhalation Powder costs $30. The $287 medication will still force me to cut back on my living expenses and other monthly costs.
When a situation like this arises, I often say to myself, "Do I reduce my food spending this month to afford my prescriptions? Maybe, eat a few peanut butter crackers instead. No, I did that already; this month I won't pay my utility bills, nor will I pay my property taxes."
I never anticipated having to face this decision. I had planned for my retirement and set aside money to supplement my Social Security and cover emergencies. However, because of these savings, I am now ineligible for financial assistance from our state and federal governments. If I don't die first, I am pretty sure that sooner rather than later, my savings will be depleted because of the high medical costs and the high cost of goods. Additionally, two years ago, I was treated for prostate cancer. One of the prescribed medications was $2,500 for a 30-day supply, which I couldn’t afford, so I never filled the prescription. Both of these recent lung conditions are terminal, and there is no cure for either.
It is very upsetting to know that for the last four years, under the Biden Administration, the Democrats and some Republicans approved measures that gave free medical and drug prescriptions to people who came into our country illegally. These same individuals received FREE food, housing, cars, cell phones, and cash during the Biden Administration's four-year term. Much of that came from the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid funds. The number of illegals who crossed into our country from Mexico and Canada who received those perks fluctuates between 10 and 20 million.
The United States is one of the wealthiest nations globally, yet it's disheartening to see so many individuals, including myself, suffering due to the high costs of medications. It’s frustrating that we repeatedly support politicians who make the same promises each election, only to see those promises broken again when they're back in office. However, there's hope! By advocating for term limits, we can encourage fresh perspectives and accountability in leadership. Together, we can push for real change to ensure that everyone has access to the healthcare they need. Let's work toward a future where health isn’t a privilege but a right for all!
Sincerely,
STOP CAREER POLITICIANS, LIMIT TERMS
