Assemblywoman Reynolds-Jackson’s Statement on NJ Transit Strike

Unnamed

(TRENTON, NJ) – Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-Hunterdon, Mercer) issued the following statement on the NJ Transit strike:

“Public transportation is a critical lifeline to the thousands of New Jersey residents who travel through the state every day. Whether commuting to their jobs, or going to the doctors, they deserve a reliable transportation system to get them where they need to go.

“Today, New Jersey residents are facing severe hardships, while they wait for between NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) to come to an agreement. In just a single day, this breakdown in service has led overcrowded buses, missed appointments, and widespread frustration for riders across the state.

“This situation cannot be allowed to worsen. It is crucial that NJ Transit and BLET return to the negotiating table in good faith and reach a fair and sustainable agreement. New Jersey’s commuters should be able to count on dependable, accessible, and uninterrupted transit service — from the cities to the suburbs, and everywhere in between.”
