N 601 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr BELLMAWR, NJ (May 12, 2025)(CNBNews)-A large and unruly crowd of juveniles and young adults forced the abrupt closure of the beloved annual St. Joachim Carnival on Saturday, May 10, around 8:50 PM. This vibrant celebration, typically held in the expansive parking lot of the church at 601 W. Browning Road, has been a community tradition and a significant fundraiser for the parish over the decades. According to Bellmawr Police Chief William Perna, an estimated crowd of over 200 people began to gather at around 8:30 PM, drawn in by the sounds of laughter, music, and carnival games. By 9:30 PM, that number had swelled to more than 400 individuals, creating a chaotic scene. Despite police requests for them to disperse, the crowd disregarded the authority, racing back and forth through the carnival grounds, spilling into nearby residential properties and businesses, and obstructing traffic on...

Trenton N.J. (May 12, 2025) — Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters, released new data indicating New Jersey is on the cusp of achieving no-kill* with 89.5% of cats and dogs in shelters statewide saved in 2024—only 1,700 more pets need to be saved for New Jersey to achieve no-kill. Of the 70 animal shelters in New Jersey, 52 maintained or reached no-kill in 2024 and an additional 13 shelters have fewer than 100 animals to save achieve this lifesaving milestone. Nearly 95% of the pets dying unnecessarily in New Jersey shelters are cats. New Jersey can achieve no-kill with the passage of Compassion for Community Cats Act (A3635, S261), which would remove unnecessary barriers that cost communities and taxpayers excessive resources to operate trap-neuter-vaccinate-return programs (TNVR) to manage outdoor cat populations. The bill would...

By John Stanford This month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will begin meeting with patients who use the 15 drugs it selected for the second round of Medicare price "negotiations" -- including weight-loss treatment Wegovy. CMS will use these discussions to inform the lower prices it'll set for the medicines. What CMS won't address is the growing list of drugs that'll never be developed as a result of government price-setting. It's been less than three years since the Inflation Reduction Act authorized the price negotiation program. Already, several companies have cited the law as a reason for pulling the plug on research programs and treatments for cancer, psychiatric disorders, and other serious conditions. Nearly 50 research programs and 24 drugs have been discontinued since the law was enacted. Thankfully, President Trump just signed an executive order calling on Congress to roll back the Inflation Reduction Act's most damaging...
