Commodore Barry Bridge Travel Advisory

Beginning Monday, May 5, the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) will begin a project to replace the movable barrier wall on the Commodore Barry Bridge. Work will begin on the New Jersey side and proceed west toward Pennsylvania. Installation will take approximately four to five weeks, weather permitting. During installation, only one lane will be open in each direction on weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The middle lanes (2, 3, and 4) will be closed to allow for the safe removal and installation of the new barrier wall. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time, especially on Thursday and Friday nights when eastbound traffic is typically heavier due to shore-bound travel. The barrier wall spans three miles and consists of approximately 4,900 individual 39-inch concrete blocks. It is being replaced with a modern steel system and a new barrier transfer machine that enhances safety, offers better... Read more →

America Can't Afford to Play Favorites in the Quest for Energy Independence

By Kent Bartley President Trump has made energy independence a pillar of his second-term agenda. Within hours of taking office, he declared a National Energy Emergency and signed executive orders to accelerate domestic oil and gas production. His message was clear. America must no longer rely on foreign energy. But securing true energy independence will require more than just drilling. Our nation needs to unleash every viable American-made energy resource -- both fossil fuels and renewables. Indeed, President Trump has an opportunity to redefine energy dominance -- not by choosing sides but by embracing an energy strategy that is as resilient as the country it powers. That resilience is going to be tested. By one estimate, domestic electricity consumption will increase nearly 16% by 2029 -- a drastic acceleration compared with the past two decades, when demand crept up by just 0.5% annually. Meeting this surge won't be easy, what... Read more →
