Richard Crane of Collingswood

RichardsRichard Crane, Sensei passed peacefully on April 9, 2025 surrounded by loving family, friends and devoted students.

Raised in Collingswood, Richard had a strong personal code of conduct that reflected his love of God & Country, Honor, Compassion & Loyalty toward Friends and Family. He was most proud of his devotion toward his loving wife Kathleen (Garvey) Crane of nearly 49 years and their combined effort to build a community instructing the Traditional Japanese Martial Art of Aikido.

Among other accomplishments, Richard was an Author & Video Producer. While pursuing many passions throughout his life, he pursued knowledge in earnest and developed a keen eye for detail while executing tasks in all of his many pursuits. With a strong sense of obligation, Richard always found a moment to say a kind word with genuine compassion and strength.

Richard’s surviving family includes his wife Kathleen, Brothers-in-Law, Timothy Garvey, Terrence (Nancy) Garvey, Kevin (Lucinda) Garvey along with nieces: Theresa, Andrea, Caitlin, Alexa & Rachel and nephews: Matthew, Michael, Kevin, Jake & Timothy along with great-nieces & nephews and was preceded in death by Brother-in-Law, Thomas Garvey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Tuesday, April 15, 5 PM to 7 PM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ.  Memorial Service will follow at 7 PM.  Interment Private.
