GLOUCESTER POLICE DEPARTMENT EARNS REACCREDITATION
Tuesday, April 29, 2025
Gloucester City, NJ — The Gloucester City Police Department has earned law enforcement reaccreditation from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP), reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, service, and community trust.
Accreditation is a respected recognition of professional standards in law enforcement. The process requires agencies to meet rigorous benchmarks, conduct a detailed self-assessment, and demonstrate operational best practices verified by an independent team of assessors. Earning reaccreditation confirms that the Gloucester City Police Department’s policies and procedures are conceptually sound and operationally effective.
Chief Brian Morrell recognized the outstanding efforts of the department’s accreditation team — Capt. Jason Flood, Lt. James Little, Lt. Tim Ryder, Sgt. Sean Saunders, and Ofc. Brittany Walton — for their leadership in achieving this important milestone.
“This achievement reflects the professionalism, dedication, and service commitment of our officers," said Chief Morrell. "I am incredibly grateful to our accreditation team and the department as a whole. It is a proud moment for our department and our community."
Mayor Dayl Baile praised the accomplishment, stating, “The Gloucester City Police Department continues to set a high standard for community policing and public service. Achieving reaccreditation highlights their ongoing commitment to excellence, transparency, and the safety of our residents. We are proud to support them as they protect and strengthen the Gloucester City community.”
Achieving reaccreditation brings significant benefits to both the department and the community. It provides objective confirmation of leadership, resource management, and service quality; strengthens community policing efforts; enhances public confidence in department operations; and offers greater protection against lawsuits and reduces citizen complaints through excellent service. Reaccreditation also provides access to approved management systems, potential insurance savings, and formal recognition of the Gloucester City Police Department as one of the best-trained and most professional law enforcement agencies in New Jersey.
The Gloucester City Police Department will be honored by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police during the Mayor and Council meeting on April 28, 2025, in recognition of their outstanding achievement in law enforcement reaccreditation.
