69-Year-Old Shoplifter from Haddon Hts. Steals Over $1,000 in June 2024

In June 2024 the BROOKLAWN ShopRite Loss Prevention reported that Hale had shoplifted on multiple previous occasions, specifically on June 7, 14, 16, 20, 24, and 29. The total amount stolen over these dates was $1,168.
**June 2024 Press Release:**
**6/1** - Officers responded to the 100 block of Browning Lane for a report of an intoxicated person. Upon their arrival, they interacted with the intoxicated male, identified as Donnell Anthony Mathes, 58, of Bellmawr, who was found to be wanted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. Mathes was also in possession of six Suboxone films, two small zip-lock bags of cocaine, empty wax folds, and a crack pipe. He was charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mathes was remanded to the Camden County Jail.
**6/3** - Officers responded to ShopRite for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Denise Lynn Emerson, 62, of Westville, used the self-checkout lane and only scanned half of the items in her cart. She concealed over $200 worth of merchandise under reusable shopping bags and attempted to exit the store. Emerson was also found to be in possession of two empty vials and a small empty heat-sealed bag, both commonly used to package crack cocaine. She was arrested, transported to police headquarters, and charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Emerson was released on a summons.
**6/4** - Officers responded to Petco for a disturbance inside the store. The suspect fled the store, entered Planet Fitness, and locked himself in a bathroom stall. Officers eventually persuaded the male to exit the stall, and he was arrested after it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant. Francis Joseph Paradise III, 34, of Blackwood, was transported back to police headquarters, charged with disturbing the peace, and released on a summons.
**6/8** - Officers responded to ShopRite for another incident of shoplifting. A female used the self-checkout lane, scanning only some items in her cart while concealing others under reusable shopping bags. The total value of the stolen items was approximately $120.07. Paula M. Santana, 32, of Moorestown, was arrested, transported to headquarters, charged with shoplifting, and subsequently released on a summons.
**6/9** - Officers received a tip regarding a suspect wanted for bicycle thefts in the area, who was reported to be at the Rodeway Inn. Morrie Halloway, 42, of Barrington, was located at the motel. He was found to have a warrant out of the Camden County Sheriff’s Department and was arrested. Halloway was also in possession of two small bags of crystal meth and a pipe used to smoke crystal meth. He was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft related to the bicycle theft incident on 6/7/24. Halloway was remanded to the Camden County Jail.
**6/9** - Officers responded to Petco for another shoplifting incident. A black male wearing camo pants, a dark-colored shirt, and tan work boots loaded a shopping cart with approximately $800 worth of dog food and fled the area in a rental box truck. A broadcast was issued for the vehicle, and a few hours later, a Camden County Metro Officer located the truck in Camden and stopped it. Brooklawn Officers responded and arrested the driver, initially charging him with shoplifting. The driver provided the name of another male but was ultimately identified and confirmed as Edward S. Borden, 42, of Palmyra. Borden was charged with shoplifting and hindering, and a summons was mailed to his last known address.
**6/10** - A white four-door sedan received $45 worth of gasoline at the Conoco Gas Station and drove away without paying. The vehicle was occupied by four black males and was last seen heading south on Route 130.
**Police Incident Report Summary**
**6/19:** Officers responded to Wawa after receiving reports of a male waving a knife inside the store. Upon arrival, they instructed the suspect, identified as William Glen Heath, 63, of Glassboro, to drop the knife, which he complied with. The knife, described as a metal cake-cutting knife, was secured by police and logged as evidence. Heath was placed in handcuffs for safety, arrested, and transported to headquarters. Police found a zip-lock bag containing crystal meth on him. He has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and disorderly conduct. Heath was released on a summons for all charges.
**6/23:** Officers responded to Wawa for a shoplifting incident. While on the scene, they were dispatched to Domino's regarding a theft of a motor vehicle. The suspect involved in the Wawa shoplifting fled on foot before police arrived and noticed a vehicle left running by a Domino's delivery driver. He opened the unlocked door of the running vehicle and drove away. A broadcast was issued for the stolen vehicle.
**6/24:** Officers were called to ShopRite for a shoplifting incident. Fanny Elena Nunez, 73, of Bellmawr, was apprehended after concealing approximately $40 worth of merchandise and attempting to exit the store. She was arrested, transported to headquarters, charged with shoplifting, and released on a summons.
**6/26:** Officers reported to ShopRite for a shoplifter in custody. Ashli Mar Johnson, 33, of Camden, was found to have concealed items under reusable shopping bags. Additionally, she had an active warrant for her arrest. Johnson was arrested, taken back to headquarters, charged with shoplifting, and released on a summons, along with a new court date for her warrant.
**6/28:** An officer observed two individuals sleeping in the gazebo at Memorial Park. David B. Chamberlain, 40, of Bellmawr, and Michelle L. Hird-Mariner, 43, of Gloucester City, were both issued borough ordinances for being in the park after hours and were released at the scene.
**6/29:** Jeffrey James Laskey, 35, of Gloucester City, was stopped for a bicycle infraction and found to have multiple warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody and discovered to be in possession of two crack pipes, copper wire mesh, a push rod, and numerous empty vials. Laskey was transported to headquarters, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and released on a summons.
**6/29:** Officers responded to ShopRite for another shoplifter in custody. Scott Patrick Hale, 69, of Haddon Heights, concealed over $300 worth of merchandise that day. ShopRite Loss Prevention reported that Hale had shoplifted on multiple previous occasions, specifically on June 7, 14, 16, 20, 24, and 29. The total amount stolen over these dates was $1,168. Hale was charged with one count of shoplifting and released on a summons.
