U.S. Navy veteran and Legionnaire Amando Alvarez, who served on the USS Meyerkord, looks back at efforts to evacuate U.S. and South Vietnam citizens, and later helping rescue boat people. On April 29-30, 1975, North Vietnamese forces brought the Vietnam War to an end when they took control of South Vietnam’s capital, Saigon. Over the course of those two days, and with 800 U.S. Marines providing security, U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Army helicopters evacuated more than 7,000 people from Tân Sơn Nhứt Air Base, the U.S. embassy and other locations via Operation Frequent Wind. Vincent McGrath Jr, 72, survived by his wife of 30 years Anne Gibson (nee Jacoby) died in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family and friends on April 23, 2025. Vince was loved by his sons: Vince III (Mera), Neal (Bridget) and Jesse. He was adored by his grandchildren: Emily, Vaeya, Ryan, and Reef. Vince was predeceased by his parents, Regina and Vince Sr. and his brother Mike (Sue) and also survived by his siblings: Greg (Eileen), Pat (Liz), Mary (Mark), and Beth (the Late George.) COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (APRIL 27, 2025)--The United States Drug Enforcement, along with the FBI and ICE, arrested 114 alleged illegal immigrants inside an underground Colorado Springs nightclub on Sunday, April 28, 2025. Officials say the club was "frequented by Tda and MS-13 gang members. Authorities uncovered drugs, including pink cocaine, as well as evidence of prostitution and multiple firearms during the operation, according to the DEA.

The Philadelphia Police Department needs your help: On March 4, 2024, at approximately 3:45 am, two unknown offenders approached a 17 year old victim as he was getting on a bus in the 6200 block of Ogontz Avenue. Both offenders fired handguns at the victim, striking him several times throughout the body. The victim died of his injuries. Four other victims were struck by the gunfire but survived their wounds. The Offenders were last seen in the 6200 block of Limekiln Pike, fleeing to a waiting dark grey Nissan Altima sedan. The vehicle has been recovered. (Waterford Township, NJ) – On Sunday at 4:22 p.m., the Camden County Communications Center received a call regarding a fire burning inside a recycling facility at 225 Jackson Road. Given the favorable wildfire conditions, the blaze quickly escalated into a multi-alarm fire that threatened approximately 50 homes throughout the area. Based on the intensity of the fire and the fact that it had jumped out of the facility from the high winds, voluntary evacuations were facilitated around the fire’s perimeter. Right now, the fire is contained to inside the facility and first responders will be on site for the next 24 to 48 hours in order to fully saturate the 15-acre site. ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (April 28, 2025)(CNBNews)--The Atlantic City Police Department has arrested seven men and charged them with first-degree narcotics distribution charges, resulting in the recovery of a significant number of drugs and the dismantling of two drug production facilities. On February 20, 2025, Detectives Moustafa Maarouf and Jesse Oliver-Logan initiated an investigation after receiving information regarding Sefereno Castro selling heroin from a vehicle in Renaissance Plaza located in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue. Detectives approached Castro after observing him engage in what they believed were drug transactions. Castro locked himself in his vehicle and refused to come out. After negotiations, Castro exited and was taken into custody. He was found in possession of 100 individual bags of heroin.
