Rowan Baseball Ends Season with Sweep of NJCU; Shannon Surpasses 200 Career Strikeouts

The NJAC Championship begins on Thursday and Rowan will host a first-round game on Thursday with more info to follow once the NJAC Championship bracket is announced later this evening.
Shannon now has 202 strikeouts in his career and is only the sixth Prof to reach the milestone.
GAME 1 - Rowan 14, NJCU 0
Shannon went 8.0 innings, allowing just three hits, with Sean Colbert closing out the final inning as the duo combined for a shutout.

Jason Morgan was 3-for-4 with four RBI, Joey Bogart was 3-for-4 with three RBI and Marco Mannino went 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead Rowan at the plate.
It took them until the fifth inning to get on the board, but the Profs did in a big way, putting up eight runs. Morgan had a two-run double and Bogart hit a two-run single as Rowan totaled five hits and took advantage of two NJCU errors. Karson Harcourt also drove in a run on a fielder's choice, as did Phil Sedalis when he reached base on an error.

With the 8-0 lead after five, Rowan added on at least one run in every inning. Morgan's second double of the game drove in Mannino in the sixth and the Profs added two in the seventh when Mannino's single brought home Tyler Cannon and Nick Struble. It became 12-0 in the eighth after Bogart hit a triple to score Dave Appolonia. Rowan finished it off with two runs in the final inning as Morgan drove in one with a fielder's choice and Davis hit a sacrifice fly to score Sedalis.
GAME 2 - Rowan 7, NJCU 4
Sedalis went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Rowan. Steven Maiers (5-1) pitched 6.0 shutout innings in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out five.
Four runs in the fifth inning allowed the Profs to overtake the Gothic Knights, who had owned a 4-3 lead. Cannon drew a bases-loaded walk that allowed Damon Suriani to score and tie the game before Sedalis cleared the bases with a double, giving Rowan a 7-4 lead.
Rowan posted a 2-0 lead in the second when Chris Serrano hit a sacrifice fly to score Suriani and Cannon's single brought home Davis. The Gothic Knights answered with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. Rowan closed to 4-3 after Sedalis connected on an RBI single.
Suriani was 3-for-5 at the plate while Cannon went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Thomas Sullivan made the start and went 1.2 innings with Jack Norton working one inning before Maiers entered.
