Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Adds New Detective

Camden, NJ - Welcome to the team! The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has hired a new detective, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Detective Shane Pettit was sworn-in by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay before First Assistant Prosecutor Timothy K. Chatten, Chief of Detectives Robert Ferris, Deputy Chief of Detectives Randall MacNair, and Chief of Staff Michael Mangold. Detective Pettit comes to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office after having most recently served as a police officer with the Conway Police Department in South Carolina since November 2024. Prior to that, he served as an officer and a detective with the Riverside Township Police Department (Burlington County, New Jersey), beginning in May 2016. Rabid raccoon confirmed in Collingswood

The Camden County Health Department has been notified by the state Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that a raccoon found in Collingswood has tested positive for rabies. On April 8, a Collingswood resident’s dog had an altercation with a raccoon at their home. Animal control was called but was unable to find the raccoon. On April 9, another Collingswood resident had an incident with a raccoon while walking. The Animal Control Officer for Collingswood picked up the raccoon and arranged for rabies testing at the state Public Health & Environmental Laboratories in Trenton (PHEL). It is unclear if these are the same raccoon, but given the proximity, it is likely they are the same. This week, the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services was notified by PHEL that the animal was rabid. Missing Adult Male Ian Colon 4-14-2025

On 04/07/2025, at approximately 1642 hours, Ian Colon (07/12/2002) was reported missing. Ian left his residence between 7 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on April 7, 2024. He is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), however is high functioning. Ian's clothing description is unknown however he is described as a thin black male with medium brown skin tone weighing approximately 150 lbs at 5'10" tall and has a tattoo on his left arm. He is known to frequent the Trenton and New York City area, specifically homeless shelters in New York City. Ian frequently utilizes the New Jersey Transit trains to travel from New Jersey to New York. Philadelphia PD are Investigating the Following Shootings

Please note that the following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be provided as they become available. A shooting occurred in the 16th District in the 600 block of North 38th Street. An adult male victim sustained a gunshot wound and walked into the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was later transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center his condition is currently unknown. At this time, there is no known motive, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by the Shooting Investigation Group (SIG). A triple shooting resulting in a homicide occurred in the 22nd District.
