Vincent J. Szymkowski, 90, of Collingswood

VincentVincent J. Szymkowski, born in Philadelphia on June 5, 1935, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 10, 2025.

Vince was a devoted husband to Donna, his beloved wife, for nearly 55 years. Vince and Donna raised their family in Collingswood NJ, where they lived for over 40 years.  He was a proud and loving father to Vincent Szymkowski, Jr. (wife Stacy) and Nicole Brown (husband Scott).

He is known as Pop-Pop to his four cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Sophia, Sydney, and Colette.  Vince especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in sports.

Vince was a proud graduate of both La Salle High School and College. In college, Vince was affectionately known as “Murph” to his many friends and teammates. While attending La Salle he discovered his joy for rowing that culminated in winning the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta.

His passion for rowing continued throughout his life as an Olympic Coach, Dad Vail advisor, originator/coach of the Collingswood Crew Club and member of the US Dragon Boat Association.

Vince enjoyed a successful 35-year career at Campbell Soup Company.

Vince’s passions included his summers with family and friends in Stone Harbor, NJ and rooting for all of Philadelphia’s sports teams.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sonia, and his brother-in-law, Jim Gildea. Vince is survived by in-laws Wendie & Bob Anderson, Gerry & Skip Bushby and nine nieces and nephews.

Vince was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, always putting his family first.  He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being loved by him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 10:00 to 11:00 AM from ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER PARISH, ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 37 W. Haddon Ave., Oaklyn, NJ 08107.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment private. 

In lieu of flowers please send donations to a charity of your choice in Vince’s name.
