GLASSBORO, NJ - Elaina Corson had five goals, Calista Burke scored four and Molly Green set another Rowan program record as the Profs notched a 17-3 win over Susquehanna. Rowan, now 6-0, is in the midst of its best-ever start to a season.
Green picked up four caused turnovers to give her 115 in her four years, breaking the record of 111 previously held by All-American Taylor Gretz who played from 2015 to 2019. The senior co-captain, who holds the school record with 312 draw controls, also scored twice in the victory.
Alexis Lowry added three goals for the Profs while Mel Rodgers picked up the win in goal as she made five saves.
Rowan rattled off five straight goals to start the game, led by two from Corson, to take a 5-0 lead in 10 minutes. Susquehanna (2-5) broke the streak with one more by the end of the quarter.
Corson and Burke combined for three goals in the second quarter, with Lowry adding one of her three to give the Profs a 9-2 lead by halftime.
Green scored her second of the game to start the third quarter with Burke, Hannah Lombardo, Lowry, and Fiona Lockhart chipping in as Rowan held a commanding 14-3 lead with one quarter to play.
Yasmin Harris got into the scoring with Corson finishing up the scoring, taking assists on her two goals from Trish Gillen and Amelia Govern.
Rowan heads to Virginia for Spring Break next week, visiting Randolph-Macon on Wednesday and #22 Christopher Newport on Friday.
LEESBURG, FL - Jason Morgan and Phil Sedalis drove in two runs each, and Zach Coluccio struck out nine in eight innings as #17 Rowan defeated Mitchell, 11-2, in the RussMatt Invitational at Pat Thomas Stadium. The Profs are 7-1 overall and 3-0 on their Spring Break trip.
Jason Schooley and Chris Serrano also had two RBI each as the Profs totaled 10 hits. Sedalis had the only extra-base hit for the Profs with a triple, as he extends his school record to 16 in his career.
It was a pitchers' duel through the first five innings between Coluccio and Chris Gibbs of Mitchell before Rowan opened it up with a four-run sixth inning. The Profs took a 1-0 lead in the second when Serrano reached base on an error and scored Brayden Davis. Mitchell was hitless until the fifth when it got three, including an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.
Rowan posted four in the sixth, to break the tie, as it went through the order and saw Nick Struble, Bogart, Schooley and Serrano all drive in wins, en route to a 5-1 lead.
Mitchell (3-12) was hanging in and added one more in the sixth to pull within, 5-2.
The Profs scored in the seventh as Morgan drove in Sedalis, to own a 6-2 lead.
Sedalis broke it open in the eighth with a two-run triple, Morgan followed with an RBI single and Schooley drove in the fourth run to give Rowan an 11-2 lead in the eighth.
Coluccio posted four straight strikeouts in the seventh and struck out the first batter of the eighth, to total five K's in those two innings en route to his first win of the year.
The Profs will play Babson on Sunday at the Chain of Lakes complex in Winter Haven, FL, with a new start time of 11 a.m.
