Jefferson New Jersey 2025 Gala-8803

More than $475,000 was raised through Jefferson Health’s recent New Jersey Gala at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. Some 400 guests attended the event, which featured entertainment by Las Vegas-based ABBA tribute group, BANDABBA.

Winners of the 2025 Giving Tank, a Jefferson initiative, were announced at the Gala. Grants totaling $110,000 — funded through the Jefferson Health Foundation – New Jersey — were awarded to support employees’ best ideas to elevate patient care or staff well-being:

  • The top $50,000 grant will fund sensory-friendly resources for Emergency Department patients who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), leading to better communications and outcomes.
  • A $35,000 grant will supply hand-held ultrasound machines for each of Jefferson’s NJ emergency departments.
  • A $15,000 grant will be used for Employee Wellness Initiatives.
  • A $10,000 grant will provide “Compassion Carts” with clothing, toiletries and food for discharged patients in need.

Kelly Schiers, DO, Medical Director of Critical Care Services for Jefferson in NJ, was also honored at the Gala as a “Healthcare Hero.”  Through her care and by mentoring future clinicians, Dr. Schiers has significantly improved patient outcomes while exemplifying compassion, excellence, and leadership.
