Brooklawn Police January 2025 Crime Report

**January 3:** Officers responded to ShopRite regarding an employee theft. Upon arrival, they learned that ShopRite management had detained an employee for stealing a television that another employee had won at the store’s Christmas party. The suspect, identified as John Johnson, 59, of Philadelphia, was arrested, processed, and released on a summons.
**January 3:** An AutoZone employee reported that a male had run out of the store with a stolen vehicle scanner. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with a beard, wearing jeans and a black hoodie. The investigation is ongoing.
**January 6:** Officers responded to the area of Verchio’s following a report of a male, later identified as Thomas Lilley, 28, of Westville, who had brandished a handgun at the caller. Lilley was found hiding under the Route 130 bridge. After the investigation, he was charged with Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Bodily Harm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon-Handgun, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose. Lilley was remanded to the Camden County Jail.
**January 6:** Officers were dispatched to Wawa for a shoplifting report. The store manager described the suspect as a black male wearing a black jacket with a grey hood and black pants, who had left the scene before their arrival. The manager reported that the suspect concealed approximately $40 worth of snacks in a bag. Surveillance footage confirmed the theft, and a photo of the suspect was posted on the department's Facebook page for identification.
**January 8:** Officers responded to AutoZone for another shoplifting incident where the suspect concealed $250 worth of tools. The investigation revealed that Rachael Depaul, 29, of Cherry Hill, had concealed the merchandise and exited the store without payment. She entered a black Honda Accord driven by Matthew Parr, 40, of Magnolia. Both matched descriptions from a prior incident. Depaul was charged with shoplifting, and Parr was charged with conspiracy. Complaint summonses were issued for both individuals.
**January 8:** A victim reported an unauthorized fraudulent charge on her Family First card. She stated she last used the card at Brooklawn ShopRite and suspects that her card information may have been skimmed there. Shortly after, she received notification of an unauthorized charge for $329.23 at Shinwari Market in Sacramento, California, on January 4, 2024, at 3:58 PM. The victim has reported the fraud to Family First and has deactivated the card.
**1/11** - A victim reported his $1,000 electric bike stolen from Gaetano's at about 3:30 PM. A male in all black and tan boots was last seen riding it on Browning Lane. Camera footage showed a white male matching the description making turns onto 4th Avenue and behind the 401 Browning Lane apartments. His photo was shared on the department's Facebook page.
**1/12** - Officers responded to a shoplifting report at AutoZone where a short, bald white male in a tan trench coat reportedly stole items valued over $50 and fled.
**1/13** - At ShopRite, Richard Catalano, 29, of Camden, was observed stealing $924.40 worth of merchandise. He resisted arrest, causing a minor officer injury, and was charged with aggravated assault, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
**1/13** - Another ShopRite report indicated a black male, approximately 6'2", stole groceries. The suspect fled after the items were recovered, and his photo was posted on Facebook.
**1/14** - At Conoco Gas, a black male in a black jacket concealed a Red Bull in his jacket pocket and exited without paying.
**1/15** - James Wilson, 34, of Gloucester City, was arrested at ShopRite for concealing $63 worth of merchandise. He was charged and transported for an outstanding warrant.
**1/16** - Officers responded to Wawa for shoplifting involving a Hispanic male in an orange hoodie who took items without paying, leaving in a black Subaru SUV with incorrect temporary registration.
- **1/16**: Officers responded to N. Hannevig Avenue for an attempted break-in to a work van. The passenger door was pried open, and the lock was broken; the driver's door was unlocked.
- **1/18**: Officers arrested Thomas Shaw, 43, of Brooklawn, for shoplifting $26.00 worth of merchandise at ShopRite. He was charged with a summons and released pending court.
- **1/20**: Wawa reported a shoplifting involving two males who stole approximately $30 worth of food. The suspects left in a white Dodge Charger. Surveillance images were posted on Facebook.
- **1/23**: Officers arrested Sarah Oliver, 35, of Woodbury, for concealing $30.00 worth of merchandise at Wawa after she fled towards the Rodeway Inn.
- **1/25**: A black male, aged 18-25, stole two cartons of cigarettes valued at $250 from Wawa and fled on foot toward Rite-Aid.
- **1/27**: Officers found Ashley Gibbs, 40, of Fieldsboro, asleep in a locked room at the Rodeway Inn. She was arrested for criminal trespassing.
- **1/28**: Caroline Sanders, 24, of Haddon Township, and Louie Desik, 43, of Philadelphia, were arrested on outstanding warrants while living in a tent behind the Shopping Center. Sanders was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

- Others listed are Coleen Allen, 41; Antonio Medina, 18; Modestas Buzinskas, 43; Ismael Colorasofabian, 38; Velma Walker, 51; Eugene Robinson, 41; Luis Canepatoyota, 25; and Robert Bartley, 43.
