GTPD Investigates A Motor Vehicle Crash With Injuries On Sicklerville Road

Car 1On March 8, 2025 at approximately 2:19am the Gloucester Township Police Department's Police Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road in the Erial section of Gloucester Township. Officers arrived and observed a sedan trapped under the trailer portion of a tractor trailer. The driver and passenger of the sedan were able to exit the vehicle, where the passenger sustained a broken arm and several lacerations as a result of the crash. The driver of the sedan was not injured. The driver, and sole occupant, of the tractor was not injured.

A preliminary investigation of the crash showed the driver of the sedan failed to observe Car 2 that the tractor trailer was executing a left turn. As a result the driver of the sedan began illegally passing the trailer at which point he struck the trailer where the vehicle became wedged under it by the rear axles. As a result of the crash, a fuel tank for the trailer's refrigeration system began leaking diesel fuel on the roadway. Lambs Terrace Fire Department, Pine Hill Fire Department, Camden County Hazmat, Camden City Fire Department and several private tow companies responded to stabilize the trailer and remove it from the vehicle so the leaking fuel could be stopped.

Car 3As a result of the crash Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road were shut down for several hours to allow emergency crews to operate and mitigate the hazards to the public. At this time the crash is still under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Department.
