Camden, NJ – A jury has convicted a Camden City man for assaulting a woman in 2022 outside the scene of a house fire, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
Bruce White, 46, was found guilty on March 19, 2025, of one count of third-degree Aggravated Assault. The verdict was returned after a three-day jury trial in Camden County Superior Court.
Evidence presented at trial showed that on June 20, 2022, the Camden County Police Department and Camden Fire Department responded to the scene of a house fire on the 800 block of Elm Street in Camden. Upon arrival, officers observed White punch the defenseless victim in the mouth with a closed fist. The victim – a then-57-year-old woman from Camden – suffered a fractured jaw. White was taken into custody on scene. The investigation revealed White believed a baseless rumor that the victim had started the fire at the location.
White faces up a sentence of up to five years in state prison. Scheduling is currently scheduled for May 16, 2025.
