Thursday, March 13, 2025
Camden, NJ – An international fugitive wanted for multiple bank robberies in southern New Jersey has been apprehended, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, U.S. Marshal Juan Mattos Jr. (District of New Jersey), Waterford Police Chief Daniel Cormaney, and Winslow Police Chief Donald Lemons.
Edward Deveaux, 29, of Berlin Township, NJ was taken into custody on February 25, 2025, in Lviv, Ukraine, by Ukrainian authorities working in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service – Office of International Operations and the U.S. Department of Justice – Office of International Affairs.
Deveaux was charged on September 30, 2022, with two counts of second-degree Robbery for committing robberies at the Truist Bank located on the 200 block of White Horse Pike in Waterford on September 22, 2022, and the Republic Bank located on the 600 block of Berlin-Cross Keys Road in Winslow on September 28, 2022.
After collecting surveillance video and other evidence, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Waterford Police Department, and Winslow Police Department ultimately determined that Deveaux was responsible for both bank robberies. Detectives attempted to locate and apprehend Deveaux in Camden County, but learned he had fled the area.
Additionally, Deveaux was charged on October 3, 2022, in reference to a robbery that occurred on September 26, 2022, at the TD Bank located on the unit block of Levitt Parkway in Willingboro, Burlington County. That incident was investigated by the Willingboro Police Department.
During the fugitive investigation, CCPO Senior Detective Stephen Bezich, a task force officer with the U.S. Marshal Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division, uncovered information that revealed Deveaux had flown to multiple countries in Europe before ultimately entering Ukraine in the days after the Winslow bank robbery. Additional information was recently developed that lead authorities to Deveaux’s whereabouts in Lviv, Ukraine. He is being held in a Ukrainian jail, pending extradition to the United States.
“The successful location and arrest of Edward Deveaux is a testament to the U.S. Marshals and our state and local partners unwavering dedication to bringing fugitives to justice, no matter where they run,” said Juan Mattos, U.S. Marshal for the District of New Jersey.
“Whether defendants flee over the Delaware River or across the Atlantic Ocean, we will continue to bring fugitives to justice through our partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service,” said Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay.
