Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald Testifies on Rising Utility Costs

Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald testified at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ (NJBPU’s) Quarterly Public Meeting. His testimony centered on the rising utility costs facing New Jersey residents and the efforts made by the legislature to find solutions that address these concerns. “I've served for nearly 30 years in this great House of the Assembly, and I have never needed to testify before, but I am doing so today before your entity because the New Jersey ratepayers are hurting with no relief in sight,” said Majority Leader Greenwald (D-Burlington, Camden). “PJM has failed the New Jersey ratepayers. They knew that data centers and extreme weather would drive up electricity demand, yet instead of preparing, they've left 3,000 clean energy projects stuck in limbo, waiting for approval. PJM has the worst connection times in the nation, and while they stall, New Jersey families have been left footing the bill.”... Read more →

How Lightweight Running Spikes Are Transforming Competitive Athletics

Competitive athletics is a field where marginal gains can make a significant difference. One of the most notable advancements in recent years has been the development of lightweight running spikes. These innovative shoes are reshaping the way athletes train and compete, offering improved speed, efficiency, and performance. The Science Behind Lightweight Running Spikes Traditional running spikes were primarily designed for grip and propulsion, but modern technology has led to the creation of ultra-lightweight versions that enhance overall performance. Advances in materials such as carbon fibre, Pebax plates, and engineered mesh have allowed manufacturers to reduce weight while maintaining durability and support. A key factor in the success of lightweight running spikes is their ability to improve energy return. The combination of responsive foam midsoles and rigid spike plates provides a propulsion effect, reducing the energy lost with each stride. As a result, sprinters and distance runners alike can sustain higher... Read more →

Candidate for Gov. Mayor Fulop Dons Aprons-Show of Solidarity with Restaurant Workers

Today, March 18, at noon, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop will join One Fair Wage for a Server for an Hour event at La Gastronomie De Chef Abby at Saveur Creole 131 Groave Street, Montclair, NJ, where he will don an apron and walk in the shoes of a restaurant worker to advocate for fair wages and an end to the subminimum wage for tipped workers in New Jersey. New Jersey’s tipped wage of just $5.26 per hour makes restaurant workers among the lowest-paid workers in the state, forcing many, particularly women and workers of color, to live in economic precarity. The two-tier wage system, a relic of slavery, leaves tipped workers vulnerable to wage theft, unpredictable earnings, and high rates of harassment. Across the country, states and cities that have moved to a One Fair Wage model—ensuring workers receive a full minimum wage with tips on top—have seen stronger... Read more →

Discover the Therapeutic Effects of CBD on Common Cat Ailments

Cats often face a variety of health challenges that impact their overall quality of life. CBD, derived from the hemp plant, has emerged as a natural option to address these concerns effectively. By interacting with a cat's endocannabinoid system, CBD regulates key bodily functions such as pain perception, mood, and inflammation. Relieving Pain and Discomfort Chronic pain can significantly affect cats, especially as they age. Using cat CBD helps to reduce the pain signals as it interacts with receptors in the nervous system. Its effects are particularly noted in conditions like osteoarthritis, where CBD reduces joint swelling and stiffness. By inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, it minimizes tissue damage and pain sensitivity. Studies on animals suggest consistent improvement in mobility when administered correctly. Calming Stress and Anxiety Felines often experience stress from changes in their environment or separation from their owners. CBD can help by regulating serotonin levels, which... Read more →
