Oregon Man Arrested for Veterinarian’s Murder in Cherry Hill

Camden county prosecutorsCherry Hill, NJ – Detectives have made an arrest in the murder of a veterinarian in Cherry Hill, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Cherry Hill Police Chief John Ostermueller. Cristian Custodio-Aquino, 27, of Portland, Oregon is charged with first-degree Murder in reference to the death of Dr. Michael Anthony, 45, of Cherry Hill.
On December 10, 2024, at approximately 7:09 a.m., officers from the Cherry Hill Police Department responded to the 100 block of Sharrowvalle Road in Cherry Hill where they located an unconscious man identified as Dr. Anthony. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. In the weeks that followed, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Cherry Hill Police Department conducted an exhaustive investigation and identified Custodio-Aquino as the person responsible for the homicide.
Custodio-Aquino was charged on February 7, 2025. He was taken into custody on February 11, 2025, in Fresno, California by the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force – Fresno Division. He remains held in the Fresno County Jail, pending extradition back to New Jersey.
