GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (January 20, 2025)(CNBNews)--On Monday, January 6th, my father suddenly passed away in his room sometime in the afternoon while everyone thought he was taking a nap with our senior-aged dog Max.
Leading up to his death, he was usually in joking moods, either speaking to me about football statistics, how crazy the political field is in today's world, or he was spending time with my sister going to movies or out to eat, or drawing and playing with my daughter (his granddaughter who he consistently presented himself at her every beck and call).
Growing up, I viewed him as a superhero. There was a point where it was hard not to view him as a giant of a man, standing at 6'4 and weighing 280 lbs. There was absolutely nothing that he would not sacrifice if it meant bettering a circumstance for his kids. With my recent house purchases and necessary repairs that tied up my funds, I find it to be incredibly difficult, if not bordering crippling me financially in the immediate moment, to provide him with any sort of service due to the incredibly high costs of even a cremation alone.
After his passing, I came to see how many people reached out who really cared for him in the community he resided in his whole life. Any donation would not be to me, but rather to provide my sister, above all else, with a form of closure and something to remember him by, considering she lost both of her parents at a very emotionally vulnerable age.
Thank you for any contribution.
