On February 14, 2025. (nee Sarlo) Age 86. Of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Formerly of Marlton, Barrington, and Gloucester City. Cherished wife of the
late Warren W. Tavener. Beloved mother of Thomas A. Tavener, Tammy Tavener, Stephanie (Adrian) Montez (nee Tavener), and the late Tracy Lynn Evans (nee Tavener). Adored companion for many wonderful years of Ken Welsh.
Beloved grandmother of Heather Jackson, Adam Jackson, Bryan Jackson, Tara (Jason) Stone, Jamie (Jonathan) Pagan, Kimberly Belcher, Jonathan Beres, Sage Tavener–Campos, Adrian Montez, Priscilla Montez, and the late Danielle Jackson. Devoted great-grandmother of 25 and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Connie (Bill) Cleary and the late Denise Kruger. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Virginia was born in Woodbury and raised in Gloucester City. She was a proud graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School, Class of 1956. Virginia married Warren Tavener and moved to Barrington, then to Marlton. She moved to San Tan Valley, Arizona, in January 2018. Virginia was a homemaker and dedicated volunteer at St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church in Marlton. She went on to become a medical assistant. Virginia loved shopping and going out to eat. She loved her grandchildren, animals, vacations, socializing, being around others, and attending all family gatherings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 12 noon in the church. Entombment with her late husband, Warren in Calvary Mausoleum, Cherry Hill.
