Two of Philadelphia's most celebrated hospitality and event companies focused on promoting our city's wine culture and Black wine community have joined forces to bring the girl power to Galentine's Day in Philadelphia this year.
Hot off the heels of the Black Girl Magic Holiday Pop-up for Wine Garden, and the sold out Philly Black Wine Fest for Kabila Events, longtime friends and collaborators Nazaret Teclesambet, Favian Sutton and Sonia Blount present the 1st Annual Galentine's Wine Tasting Celebration, popping up at PJ Clarke's with two sessions on Thursday, February 13th.
"Wine Garden and Kabila Events are both known for our finely curated immersive wine experiences that celebrate our region's wine community," said Sutton. "We wanted to team up for a new exclusive event that brings the best of both organizations together for an unforgettable night for female wine lovers and foodies. We are popping up at PJ Clarke's in their gorgeous private space - with pink and pretty yet upscale vibes. Come out for a night just for the girls as we enjoy selections from our favorite wineries, while we vibe to live music, photo stations, vintage decor, fresh flowers and delicious bites. This is the first year for what we hope will become an annual tradition. We have two sessions and we are limiting the number of tickets to keep the experience special and intimate."
Galentine's Wine Tasting Celebration will feature:
* Wine tastings (included with tickets) from at least six wineries and spirit companies, including V Cellars, Strangefruit Wines, Aurora's Vines, Cyrenity Sips and others to be announced

* Custom love poems on a vintage pink typewriter from WPM Typewriter Shop

ABOUT WINE GARDEN
The Wine Garden is the creation of the mother daughter duo, Nazaret and Favian. The bond between the two would be the catalyst to building a business like no other, the only women black-owned wine garden in the city of Philadelphia. What began in 2019 as a simple idea to bring a beautiful outdoor space to their community, has turned into what we all know as The Wine Garden today.
The two are Philadelphia natives and were inspired by beer gardens. They wanted to re-create an environment where wine lovers could enjoy the same vibrant venues. The Wine Garden is a place for new and experienced wine drinkers alike. During the unfortunate C OVID 19 Pandemic, the two began to brainstorm new ways to bring people together safely, and brunch in the garden was born. Last season, the wine garden opened its doors to a second location in Center City.
The Wine Garden is an urban oasis that transcends norms. It inspires creativity, breeds elegance, promotes open dialogue and delivers a wide range of new experiences. Now that our vision is finally a reality, we can’t wait to continue on this amazing journey with you all.
ABOUT KABILA EVENTS
Led by Sonia Blount, Kabila Events is a Black-Women Owned business with a mission to create impactful experiences that celebrate and support traditionally underrepresented industries. Through their events, Kabila Events aims to connect diverse audiences with underrepresented businesses, fostering connections and providing memorable experiences for clients.
ABOUT PHILLY BLACK WINE FEST
Philly Black Wine Fest is an annual event every fall in Philadelphia that comes at a critical time in the industry, as Black-owned wineries account for less than one percent of all U.S. wineries, while Black people make up more than 10 percent of American wine consumers. Notably, over 77% of these businesses were not certified as Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE) or an equivalent. Both years for the new festival were sold out successes at Cherry Street Pier in 2023 and at Penn Museum in 2024.
For the 2025 event, Philly Black Wine Fest, Blount and Kabila Events will present this one of a kind experience in the fall (date TBD) that brings together over 20+ Black-owned and minority owned businesses, featuring wine tasting, product samples, live music, art showcase and curated drink and food vendors. Apart from the traditional festival setting, this event will have a handpicked collection of activities that incorporate entertainment and culturally inclusive education. Philly Black Wine Fest is presented and founded by Sonia Blount and Kabila Events. Stay tuned for info for this year - coming soon!
