Late Basket Give Ramapo a 64-62 Win over Rowan in Men's Basketball


Screenshot 2025-01-12 082725GLASSBORO, NJ - Peter Gorman's jumper with :06 to play lifted visiting Ramapo over Rowan, 64-62, in NJAC men's basketball action this afternoon, in a close game that saw multiple lead changes.


Rowan (7-7; 4-3) was led by  with 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting, with  scoring 11 and  and  adding 11 points each.

Meares put Rowan up by two points twice in the final 2:24, but Ramapo (11-3; 5-2) tied it each time, including 62-62 at 1:18 on a pair of free throws by Anthony Corbo. The Profs couldn't convert on their next possession and although Ramapo missed two missed free throws, the Roadrunners grabbed the rebound to set up Gorman's winning shot.

Rowan held its biggest margin of the game, 53-46, with 6:38 to play, but saw Ramapo score sixth straight to come within a point, 53-52. A jumper from Fleming gave Rowan a 55-52 cushion before Gorman answered with one, and Williams connected on a three to put Rowan ahead, 58-54, with 3:49 left. The Roadrunners would tie the game, 58-58, with 2:51 remaining as Meares kept the Profs ahead with consecutive baskets.

The first half was tight and the teams traded leads with the biggest lead for either team being Rowan's brief six-point margin, 31-25, after a three-pointer by McCarron with 1:06 remaining. Ramapo answered with two field goals in the final minute to give Rowan a 31-30 halftime lead.

The Profs will host NJAC rival and 19th-ranked Stockton on Wednesday, January 15 at 7:30 p.m.
