Istockphoto-1183581672-612x612As announced by Camden County Public Works last month the replacement of the Somerdale Road Bridge, located between Chews Landing Road and Lamppost Lane in Gloucester Township will begin on or about Monday, January 6, 2025 (weather permitting). The contract time is listed as 760 Calendar Days (Weather Permitting), and will be completed in three (3) stages.

Gloucester Township Police recommends that area residents who are affected by the Somerdale Road construction plan accordingly and give ample travel time to adjust to new traffic patterns and possible delays. From Camden County's website: "All work at the Somerdale Road Bridge will be performed in accordance with Section 159.03 and will maintain a minimum of one (1) lane in each direction along Somerdale Road during Stage 1 and 3 constructions. In Stage 2, two lanes of vehicular traffic shall be maintained during the day between the hours of 5am until 7pm. A full detour of Somerdale Road shall be permitted overnight during stage 2. The minimum staging requirements are two (2) lanes of vehicular traffic without sidewalk as well as accommodation of the installation of drainage improvements.

Project Highlights:
- Removal of an existing single span concrete rigid frame, wingwalls and timber sheeting and pile supported concrete footing.
- New single span precast concrete frame with cast in place reinforced concrete 100-6 wingwalls founded on cast in place reinforced concrete footings supported on 12” diameter concrete filled steel pipe piles.
- Concrete Curb, Curb Ramps, Concrete Sidewalk (If & where directed) Inlets and Manholes, Reconstruct Inlets, Installation of Type Double B Inlets, Reinforced Concrete Storm Pipe, Ductile Iron Storm Pipe, Raised Pavement Markers, Traffic Striping.
