Brycen Williams Hits 7 Threes to Pace Rowan over Rutgers-Newark, 85-71

Brycen Williams made seven three pointers en route to a career-high 24 points to lead Rowan to an 85-71 win over Rutgers-Newark (5-11; 1-8) in NJAC men's basketball play), giving the Profs their second win of the week while they improve to 9-7 (6-3).
Williams hit the seven threes in just 10 attempts to set a new personal best.
The Profs broke open a tight game late in the first half, going up by nine points, 24-15, after baskets by Fleming and Cantey. A three-pointer from Williams with 2:57 to play extended Rowan's lead to 37-24, and the Profs closed out the half owning a 42-28 lead.
Rowan maintained control in the second half but Rutgers-Newark cut the deficit to single digits, 61-52, with 8:53 remaining before consecutive threes from Fleming gave the Profs a 69-53 advantage. Rowan took its biggest lead of the game, 85-67, after Williams' final three of the game with 2:15 to play.
The Profs shot 50 percent from the field in the win, including a 46.2 percent (12-for-26) effort from beyond the arc.
Rowan is on the road again on Wednesday when it faces Montclair State.
