Arlene M Watson, 86, of Audubon Park
Wednesday, January 15, 2025
Remember, you’re the only one who can fill the world with sunshine. What you put out in the world comes back to you. Arlene M. Watson (nee Lindsay) wove a tapestry of unconditional love, kindness, and faith that crocheted together lessons that made us strong, helping each of us grow in grace as we grow in age. Arlene wasn't afraid to roll up her sleeves and get in the garden. She loved to be outside and affectionately hand-feed the awaiting squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and passing-by dogs. She held her faith dear and as St. Francis taught us, where there is darkness let me bring light and it is in dying that one awakens to eternal life.
During the very early hours of Tuesday, January 14, 2025, exactly 86 years and 4 months since her sun had risen to begin her circle of days, our perfect mother’s soul was unburdened and rose like incense from the love of her family, at her son’s home in Audubon to eternal life. Watch the sunset and tell me again how the end of something can't be beautiful. Although we are separated by death we remain connected by love and even though our loss is immeasurable, so is the love left behind. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known her love with wonder, not grief.
Arlene’s sun had risen from our nation’s cradle, Philadelphia, PA. She had been a longtime Oaklyn neighbor spending her more recent years in Audubon Park. She made her career as an Office Administrator, working for Merchant & Evans, Inc. in Burlington. Arlene was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Joseph The Worker Parish. Mrs. Watson had volunteered her time in the Church choir as well as the parish council. At home, she was a master at crocheting and was a proud member of the “Happy Hookers” knitting club. Arlene loved and indulged in her tootsie pops as well as her coffee ice cream. Quite simply, she just adored being “Me Mom” most of all.
Mrs. Watson is the widow of her late husband, John, Sr., and leaves to cherish her memory, her children, John & his wife Dana Watson, Jr, and Allison & her husband Matthew Del Duke. Arlene is the proud “Me Mom” of; Lindsay & her husband Anthony, Jonathan, Matthew, Nicole, Sandy, Cameron, Forrest, and her great-grandchildren; Natalia, Alessandra, Hazel, Brody, Holland, Layla, Willow, and one more great-grandchild who just hasn’t arrived yet. Mrs. Watson is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Theresa & her husband Norman Guarni as well as her feline companion Sweetie Pie.
Relatives, friends, neighbors, and parishioners are invited to gather with the Watson family. We’ll come together to take comfort in each other and celebrate Arlene’s life through faith on Saturday morning between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, St. Aloysius Church 37 W. Haddon Ave. Oaklyn where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am. A graveside tribute will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
