Samaritan's Purse Operation - Christmas Child

The overwhelming generosity of the people of Gloucester City​, helped provide joy to children in need through Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts this season. Across the U.S., the Samaritan's Purse project collected 10.5 million shoebox gifts in 2024. Combined with those collected from partnering countries in 2024, the ministry is now sending over 11.9 million shoebox gifts to children worldwide. Shoebox packers brought joy and hope to children around the world through fun, full, personalized gifts. For many children, this is the first gift they have ever received. Each shoebox gift is a tangible expression of God’s love, given to children in need around the world. New Jersey American Water Opens 15th Annual Volunteer Fire and EMS Grant Program

Recognizing the bravery and commitment of volunteer firefighters and first responders, New Jersey American Water announces its 2025 grant program for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders (e.g., ambulance and first aid squads) located within the company’s service areas. This year, based on applicant feedback, New Jersey American Water is moving the grant application period back to the beginning of the year, as it has been in the past, to better align with applicants budgeting and funding needs. Philadelphia PD Investigating a Report of a Body Found

The following details are preliminary and subject to change as the investigations continue. Updates will be provided as they become available. Officers were dispatched to 7xx N 47th St. at 9:42 a.m. after receiving a report of a body found inside a garbage can on the highway. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased individual, who appeared to be African American, though their age and sex were unknown. Medic 9 arrived on the scene and pronounced the individual deceased at 9:51 a.m. The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation by the Homicide Unit. Wanted: Suspects for Robbery in the 39th District [VIDEO]

The Philadelphia Police Department Northwest Detective Division is attempting to identify the individuals responsible for this strong-arm robbery. On January 24, 2025 at 7:15 am at 240 W. Chelten Ave the complainant, who is an autistic male, reported to police the unknown offenders robbed him. The complainant, along with his father, reported to poke that he was waiting for the bus on Chelten Ave when a black male and female approached him. He further stated the male began a conversation with him and the male told him to get money from the ATM. Al three people went into the store located near the bus stop and the complainant withdrew $200. After withdrawing the money the male offender took the money. Coast Guard, multiple partner agencies, responding to plane crash in Potomac River

WASHINGTON — The Coast Guard is coordinating with local, state and federal agencies in response to the aircraft collision which occurred Wednesday evening over the Potomac River in Washington. Coast Guard Sector Maryland - National Capital Region command center watchstanders received a report at approximately 8:55 p.m. reporting a helicopter and a commercial passenger aircraft collided in the vicinity of Ronald Reagan Airport. Response boat crews from Coast Guard stations Washington, Curtis Bay, Annapolis, St. Inigoes, Oxford and Crisfield have deployed to the incident to conduct searches in coordination with local partners and enforce a safety zone. Cutters Sailfish, Bruckenthal, Kennebec and Frank Drew are enroute to assist. An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast was issued regarding the incident and a safety zone has been established, securing all vessel traffic from the Woodrow Willson Bridge heading north along the Potomac River. Commissioners to Host Homeless Services and Resource Fair

Today at 10 a.m. the Board of Commissioners will be hosting a homeless services and resource fair to provide free necessary services to those in need. This fair will feature on–site showers and haircuts, breakfast and lunch, and access to several organizations to help with employment and housing, among other things. “These events are incredibly important because they deliver critical services directly to people currently experiencing homelessness,” said Commissioner Virginia Betteridge, liaison to the Department of Health and Human services. “Combatting homelessness is a top priority for the Board of Commissioners and these resource fairs are a crucial component in doing that.” The event also coincides with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) annual Point in Time Count of the homeless.
