As a child growing up in Southern California, trauma was woven inextricably into the fabric of King’s day-to-day life. Born into a profoundly disturbed family, led by his pedophile/sociopath/military officer father, he experienced various forms of trauma, including sexual and physical abuse, abandonment, and the prevalence of addiction among family members. Bill Establishing Employment Protections for First Responders with PTSD Clears Committee

Moen, Stanley legislation would establish protections against employer discrimination (TRENTON) — Legislation that would establish employment protections for paid first responders diagnosed with work-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) cleared the Assembly Public Safety and Preparedness Committee yesterday. Bill A2145, sponsored by Assemblyman William F. Moen, Jr. and Assemblyman Sterley Stanley would prohibit employers from discharging, harassing, or otherwise discriminating against an employee diagnosed with work-related PTSD. “Our first responders are the heroes who run toward danger when others flee, and yet, far too often, they are left to face the aftermath of their sacrifices alone,” said Assemblyman Moen (D-Camden, Gloucester). “Bill A2145 would be a lifeline for so many of New Jersey’s finest and is a necessary step toward ensuring that our first responders can seek the help they need without fear of retaliation.” Under A2145, if an employer violates these provisions, an affected employee or former employee would be... They’ve mastered the 1x2 equation of the game: one part talent, one part teamwork, and two parts passion. These aren’t teams; they’re dynasties built on sweat, brilliance, and a touch of magic. FC Barcelona: More Than a Club, a Philosophy When you think of Barcelona, you don’t think of a football team but a way of life. The motto “Mes que un club” (More than a club) isn’t a tagline; it’s a mission statement. Barça’s greatness lies in their unique style of play: tiki-taka. Like a well-rehearsed ballet, their short, precise passes mesmerize opponents, leaving them chasing shadows. Players like Xavi, Iniesta, and the inimitable Lionel Messi turned this style into an art form. It’s not... Read more →

After Eight Years the Gloucester City Police Department's Crime Report has Returned

EDITOR'S NOTE (January 28, 2025): This week, the Gloucester City Police Department released a new crime report. This report had been suspended for approximately eight years by Police Chief Brian Morrell and Mayor Dayl Baile. Chief Morrell explained that the report was halted due to the significant amount of time and resources required for its preparation, which made it challenging to maintain regularly. Historically, this crime report was released to the media by every other police chief for over 50 years. It was printed in the Gloucester City News when it was under the ownership of the Cleary family. The report offered valuable insights into local crime statistics and community safety issues. Additionally, it was accessible online through CNBNews (ClearysNoteBook), providing residents with timely information about criminal activity in their area. The revival of this report indicates a renewed commitment to transparency and community awareness in Gloucester City. Earlier this... Read more →
