Coast Guard, Partners Responding To Aground Cargo Ship In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. Coast Guard and partners are continuing to respond to the aground 623-foot motor vessel Algoma Verity approximately a mile north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in the Delaware River, January 10. As of 8 a.m., Friday, the MV Algoma Verity is still aground outside the main shipping channel. A team from Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, salvors, and the vessel’s representatives are continuing to monitor the situation and are formulating a plan to safely move the vessel. Marine inspectors have identified four of the vessel’s ballast tanks and one empty fuel tank has been damaged by the incident. Rowan Women's Basketball Rolls Over Ramapo, 73-44

Kate Herlihy scored 13 points and led a balanced scoring effort as Rowan defeated Ramapo, 73-44. in an NJAC women's basketball matchup today. The Profs improve to 9-5 and 5-2 in the conference. Herlihy made 3-of-6 three-pointers on the day while grabbing seven rebounds. Abigail Jazmin scored nine points and Cornysha Davis picked up a game-high nine rebounds while shooting 3-for-4 from the field. The Profs opened up the game by going on a 15-5 run in the first quarter, ending in a three from Herlihy, as they took a 21-9 lead with :52 left. Beacon Building Unveiled To The Public

On January 14 at 11 a.m. at Joint Health Sciences Center, 201 Broadway, Camden, the Camden County Improvement Authority, the Camden County Commissioners and NJ Transit are presenting the newest vision for the fourth largest transit hub in the state of New Jersey – the Beacon Building. A grand vision of the public parcels, that are sandwiched between Federal Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, will house the largest office structure in South Jersey outside of Atlantic City. The 25-story Beacon Building will compliment NJ Transit’s vision for a 21st century public transportation center out of the reconstructed Walter Rand Transportation Center. The facility will include a parking structure on Lot N and a public square that will be the landmark of city’s downtown.
