On Thursday, January 9, at 5:30 p.m., at Malandra Hall Community Center, 1200 South Merrimac Road, Camden, at 5:30 p.m. the Board of Commissioners will be joining City of Camden to celebrate El Dia de Los Reyes, or Three Kings Day, a Christian feast day that honors the visit of the Three Wise Men. The event will feature food, live music and gifts for children. “This is a beautiful celebration that is well loved by the community,” Commissioner Virginia Betteridge said. “The day marks the end of the Christmas season and is always a wonderful celebration.” Three Kings Day is widely celebrated in Europe, Spain, and Latin America with gatherings, a grand feast, and presents.

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Fish & Wildlife will lead a multi-state partnership to help restore Eastern brook trout to waterways in parts of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, by administering a $3.5 million National Fish and Wildlife Foundation America the Beautiful Challenge grant. The grant is designed to enhance forested waterway habitats that support this hallmark fish species and others that depend on clear and cold streams and lakes. Prized by anglers and New Jersey’s only native trout species, the Eastern brook trout, also known as brookies, is the official state fish species for all three states and is considered an indicator of good water quality. It was named the official state fish of New Jersey in 1992. LaTourette announced today. The delisting of eagles and ospreys is contained within a Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) rule adopted today through publication in the New Jersey Register. A former resident of the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, PA, Collingswood and Somers Point, NJ, Joe was 92 years old.
