KANSAS CITY, MO - Rowan’s Johnny Troiano and Turlough Gartlan have been named to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer All-America Teams as chosen by the United Soccer Coaches. It marks the first time either Prof has earned the honor, as they become the 23rd and 24th Rowan players earn All-America honors and the first since 2017 (Shane Doherty).
Troiano (Hazlet, NJ/Saint John Vianney) was chosen to the All-America Third Team after a stellar season in which he was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year. The junior was the conference’s leading scorer with 16 goals and seven assists (39), all career-highs, while he ranked 35th in the nation in goals per game (0.72) and 38th in points per game (1.77).
An All-Region IV First Team honoree for the second consecutive year, Troiano was also a repeat selection to the All-NJAC First Team. He recorded the first hat trick of his career this season as he had five multiple-goal games and posted three game-winning goals. The three-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Week was also named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Gartlan (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) earns All-America Fourth Team honors after closing out his career as the leader and anchor of the Profs’ defense. The senior helped Rowan limit the opponents to 21 goals in 22 matches, with just an average of 4.4 shots on goal per game, and nine shutouts on the season.
The team co-captain was named to the All-Region IV First Team and received the 2024 NJAC David Logar Leadership Award. Gartlan showed his durability and reliability by being on the field for 1,793 out of a possible 1,980 minutes this season.
Rowan, ranked 12th in the nation, captured its second NJAC Championship in the last three years and finished the season at 12-5-5 while making its fourth appearance in the NCAA Championships in the last five years.
