Jean A. Oberholtzer, 87

9139506_fbsCherry Hill - On Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, Jean A. Oberholtzer (nee Loper) passed away peacefully at the age of 87. She is survived by her cherished daughter Linda Oberholtzer, and beloved grandsons Theodore “TJ” Nitterauer, IV and Trevor Nitterauer of Pennsauken, dear daughter-in-law Elizabeth Maureen Mathis (Claude Jr.) of Dunedin, Florida, and a sister-in-law Mary Joycelyn Westad (nee Oberholtzer) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was predeceased by her loving sons Claude Oberholtzer, Jr. and Steven Oberholtzer, and her treasured siblings Claude Loper and Shirley (nee Loper) Bradford.

Jean was born and raised in Bridgeton and was a lifelong resident of South Jersey. In her senior year of high school, she moved to Camden City. She was a 1956 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where she was a member of the Junior Red Cross, Bible Club and Wilsonian School Newspaper. She married Claude Oberholtzer, Sr. in 1957, and a few years later they settled in Magnolia where they raised their three children.

She was a real estate agent and subsequently became a broker and opened her own real estate agency, Cross Realty, in Magnolia. Jean loved her family, especially helping to care for her grandchildren. In her later years, she lived in Glendora and was active in Kennedy Hospital’s (now Jefferson Hospital) Circle of Knitting and Crocheting group where she enjoyed lively conversation while making lap blankets, hats, scarves, baby blankets and layettes, and many other items for donations to various hospitals and charities.

In accordance with Jean’s wishes, her body will be donated to medical science then cremated through Anatomy Gifts Registry in Hanover, Maryland. Interment of her ashes will be with her late son, Steven and former husband, Claude Sr. in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, Cold Spring (Cape May), NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jeans’s memory. Your generosity will be deeply appreciated and honor her legacy.
