Important Health Update: Increase in 'Walking Pneumonia' Cases
Sunday, December 29, 2024
The CDC and NJDOH have reported a rise in Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections, also known as 'walking pneumonia,' which can range from mild chest colds to severe illness, especially for young children, older adults, and those with health conditions. The infection spreads through coughing and sneezing, often affecting families or those in close living or working environments. Key Symptoms include sore throat, fever, fatigue, headache, and a persistent dry cough. Prevention is crucial: Wash hands frequently. Cover coughs and sneezes. Stay home when sick and wear a mask when recovering.
