Commissioner Kane to celebrate WWII veteran’s 99th birthday

On Tuesday, December 3, Commissioner Melinda Kane will join Congressman Donald Norcross to celebrate the birthday of World War II Veteran Gilbert Klein.
Klein, a resident of Haddon Township, served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was involved in major military operations including Operation Juneau and the American occupation of Okinawa, Japan.
During his service, Klein earned several accolades including a Combat Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze campaign medals, and a World War II Victory Medal.
“Gilbert is a remarkable person who served his country during one of the most turbulent times in our nation’s history,” said Commissioner Kane, liaison to the Department of Veterans Affairs. “It is such an honor to be able to celebrate his 100th birthday with him.”
