On Tuesday, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 218 will present a check for $6,500 to The Cooper Foundation in support of colorectal cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The donations came from the officers themselves to honor Officer Matthew Sviben, a member of the Camden County Police Department who passed away from the disease in 2021.
“This department is extremely proud to honor Officer Sviben’s memory through this donation,” said Chief Gabriel Rodriguez. “MD Anderson is making incredible strides when it comes to cancer care and our hope is that this donation will help fund new treatments and research to find a cure for this awful disease.”
“We are grateful for the CCPD’s partnership and shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community,” said Lisa Morina, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer at The Cooper Foundation. “The memory of Officer Sviben continues to inspire generosity and hope, and we thank Chief Rodriguez, the officers of the Camden County Police Department, and the Sviben family for their enduring support.”
