(OCEAN COUNTY, NJ) (Wednesday, DECEMBER 11,2024)(CNBNews)-During a recent interview on Fox News, New Jersey Representative Chris Smith (R-4th District) discussed concerns regarding drones the size of SUVs. He expressed confusion over why the United States has not taken decisive action to intercept these drones. Smith suggested that either China or Russia could be responsible for their presence. He stated, "If we were to shoot down one or more of these aircraft, we could thoroughly examine them to uncover who is responsible. Our military capabilities enable us to do just that," emphasizing the urgent need for a response to this unprecedented aerial activity.
Smith mentioned that Robert Wheeler, the FBI Assistant Director of the Critical Incident Response Group, insisted that there was no evidence suggesting the public was at risk. However, when pressed further, Wheeler acknowledged, "But we just don't know. And that's the concerning part."
Smith voiced his deep concern after police recorded video footage of an army of 55 drones coming from off the coast of New Jersey. He recalled a particularly alarming incident in which a dozen drones were spotted trailing a U.S. Coast Guard vessel, heightening fears about potential security threats.
