MONTCLAIR, NJ – Allie Palumbo scored two goals as Rowan defeated Montclair State, 6-0, to win its fourth straight NJAC Field Hockey regular-season title. Rowan will now be the top seed in the 2024 NJAC Championship which begins on Wednesday, November 6, as the Profs seek their fourth consecutive crown.
Freshman Jenna Gray also had a goal and assist as Rowan (12-7) increased its winning streak to eight and finished conference play undefeated (6-0). Mariah Juiliano made two saves to post her fifth shutout of the season and Palumbo wasted no time in getting the Profs on track for the title as she scored a pair of goals in the game's first three minutes, within 20 seconds of each other. She tallied the first at 2:22 and then tacked on the second at 2:49.
Gray upped the score to 3-0 just minutes later, at 5:25, as she scored an unassisted goal, followed by a goal from Kaylee Wenzel at 8:48 to give Rowan a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Profs held that margin until the third quarter, when Gracie Merrick added one at 31:23, with the assist from Kylie Elwell.
Rowan's final goal came at 50:50 in the fourth quarter, as Gray sent a pass to Lily Bataloni.
Rowan will host the NJAC Semifinal on Wednesday vs Stockton at 6 p.m.
