The Voorhees Township Fire Department and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service will continue to monitor the 40 acres affected by the brush fire in the Sturbridge area that occurred on October 30. The fire will continue to smolder; however, Although smoke may still be visible and its odor might linger for a few days until significant rainfall occurs, it is important to note that the smoke is drifting away from Voorhees.
Please remember that the statewide Stage 3 fire restrictions implemented by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are still in effect. These restrictions prohibit all outdoor fires unless they are contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, or electricity. Wood and charcoal fires are not allowed, and the use of kerosene or gas torches, as well as fireworks, is prohibited under this level of restriction.
