#12 Rowan Defeats Stockton, 3-1, to Claim NJAC Men's Soccer Championship

DownloadGLASSBORO, NJ - Ryan Cleary's goal  in the 74th minute was the game winner as #12 Rowan rallied for a 3-1 win over Stockton in the 2024 NJAC Men's Soccer Championship. It is the Profs' 17th title all-time and the second in the last three years.
Rowan (12-4-5), in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, with bracket to be announced on Monday at 1:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
The top-seeded Profs faced a 1-0 halftime deficit after third-seeded Stockton (9-6-6) scored in the 40th minute.  Joseph Carbone gathered a through ball from Ernst Louisius and connected into the far right corner of the net. It was the first goal scored on Rowan in eight games.
Rowan came out firing in the second half and the rally began in the 70th minute when Jake Homowitz centered it to Emiliano Pavia, who scored from close range to tie the game at 1-1.
Cleary netted the gamewinner just four minutes later as Homowitz sent a corner kick into the box and the senior headed it in to give Rowan a 2-1 lead.
Johnny Troiano, the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, put the game out of reach with his 16th goal of the year. The junior took a pass from Davide Caputo for the insurance goal in the 80th minute.
Dylan Aportela only needed to make one save in the first half as Rowan outshot the Ospreys, 16-3.
